Three fun facts about eastern gray squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) 🐿️ :

0. They are Rodents (I didn’t know that before today)

1. Apparently, a squirrel’s front teeth never stop growing. So, it must keep gnawing on things to keep them from becoming too long.

2. One squirrel can hide up to ten thousand nuts in a year. Because of their excellent spatial memory, they can often remember where the nuts are stored.

3. If another squirrel is watching, they sometimes pretend to bury a nut somewhere else to trick thieves!

Ever wondered why the sky turns pink? As the Sun moves low towards the horizon, its light travels through a much thicker layer of Earth’s atmosphere. The shorter blue wavelengths get scattered by the extra air, dust, water droplets, and tiny particles. This allows the warm red and pink wavelengths to be visible. The soft pastel shade usually comes from the rain clouds which can reflect and diffuse the pinks and reds, creating a beautiful scenery after a rain.

🦆🐥 Greylag goslings can communicate with their parents through gentle chirps way before they hatch. Within just 24 hours of breaking free of the egg shells, they can walk and swim alongside their parents. I was today years old when I found out that Papa Geese are called Ganders! While the mama goose keeps the goslings close, the papa gander often stands guard, team-working to protect the happy family 🦆 🐥

apparently, squirrels are responsible for planting thousands of trees unknowingly because they forget where they hid their nuts and seeds in the first place 🌰 🥜
