The Royal National Theatre in London, commonly known as the National Theatre, is one of the United Kingdom's three most prominent publicly funded performing arts venues, alongside the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Opera House.

Although the theatre is often cited as an archetype of Brutalist architecture in England, the building has been re-evaluated as having closer links to the work of Le Corbusier, rather than contemporary monumental 1960s buildings such as those of Paul Rudolph.

Back in January, I stopped in Piccadilly Circus to grab a shot, before going back home from work. Never could I have imagined that after 2 months I would have found myself again in that same spot, capturing the same place, empty beyond imagination.

There is a big lesson coming from that: we need to learn to live in the moment, because that moment will never come back. Carpe diem, as they say.

For that reason, on Wednesday, 19 August — World Photography Day — share your “carpe diem moment” to celebrate the battle of humanity against this pandemic, and tag LCKDN20.

I was there when the statue of Agatha Christie was unveiled, back in 2012, as I was filming the event with my collaborators. The place was crowded and vibrant, and you could really feel the curiosity, excitement and happiness sparkling in the air.

Never I could have imagined that one day I would have seen that same place empty beyond imagination.
