Some people love cars, others love expensive clothes — I have a different hobby: I love vintage cameras.
Ever since I started studying photography, I’ve dreamed of owning a Hasselblad. For many, it might mean nothing, but to me it’s the Rolls-Royce of cameras or the Louis Vuitton of bags.
But owning a red Hasselblad — my favorite color — was something I never even dared to dream of.
The Hasselblad 500 EL/M is a medium format film SLR camera produced in Sweden between 1971–1984. It is an improved version of the 500 EL, featuring an integrated electric motor and interchangeable components such as lenses, viewfinders, and film backs .
It is part of the modular Hasselblad V system and uses Carl Zeiss leaf-shutter lenses, renowned for their exceptional image quality, durability, and professional flexibility.
Cameras from this series became iconic, especially due to their use in NASA’s Apollo missions, where modified Hasselblad cameras captured some of the first photographs ever taken on the Moon .
