I see life through a lens

I have been inseparable from my camera ever since I was a little girl. Photography is my dream career and I still have ‘pinch me’ moments. I worked for twenty years as a broadcast journalist in the biggest newsroom in the world. I learnt the craft of story-telling from my talented and experienced colleagues. Transferring those skills to fine tune my stills photography ca

me naturally, but I never imagined I could turn the hobby I was so passionate about into a career. The lightbulb moment came when my children started school – suddenly I had a pool of diverse and willing models to practice on (their classmates). My own impatient children are, sadly, much less willing guinea pigs, particularly when I have run out of bribes. As my portfolio grew, I was greatly encouraged by both my local community and my BBC colleagues to put down my journalist cap and follow my dream. I have experience in many areas of photography, including business headshots, website content, press events, family shoots and portraits. I feel honoured and privileged when chosen to photograph your portraits and intimate moments – it’s a big responsibility and I take that seriously. I strive to capture natural, thoughtful and joyful photographs with a focus on reportage style – story-telling through images. My aim is to deliver pictures that you just can’t stop looking at and want to share with the world, because they have captured you and your family so perfectly at that moment in time.

Don’t get me wrong, I work very very hard at events! But after spending a few weeks taking Nursery portraits, where I have to play the role of children’s party entertainer as well as photographer, there is a joy in tucking myself away in the corner and capturing moments as the evening unfolds. It is still all about human emotion but here I’m waiting with my finger poised on the shutter button, rather than prompting the moment myself.

Event photos from a fabulous fundraising gala evening at - raising funds for their mission partners. Can you guess the theme? 🎥 🍿

As my own boys grow into young men, I worry I sound a little unhinged reminding everyone — almost daily — how breathtakingly fast it all goes.

I catch myself lingering over old photographs: the soft, pudgy cheeks, those wide, searching eyes, the way my babies’ cheeks once nestled perfectly into the hollow of my neck.

That’s why true photographs of true moments matter so deeply to me. They hold what time refuses to.

My top tip for taking a quick children’s passport photo?
Um, sorry… I don’t have one 😬
Every time a camera is pointed in their direction all they hear is SMILE!
So you can’t blame them for being confused when all of a sudden it’s ’DON’T SMILE!’
We still had a giggle though 😆

Variety is the spice of life, but my focus remains: getting that perfect shot.

My headshot sessions are quick, easy and flexible and I keep snapping until together, we’ve captured the real you.
