Resonators

Resonators- a collection of portraits of guitar icons and their guitars - shot by Scarlet Page to be released this December

Resonators is a personal project by the internationally acclaimed rock photographer Scarlet Page. A collection of extraordinary portraits of some of the world’s greatest guitar heroes all selected, shot and edited by Scarlet, the images have been collected togeth

er here in a book for the first time. To coincide with the book launch an exhibition of all the images will be held at Proud Camden in London from November 26th – December 6th. The Resonators are:

Albert Lee, Billy Corgan, Brian May, Chrissie Hynde, Def Leppard, Dick Taylor (Stones), Graham Coxon, Hank Marvin, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, John Frusciante, Johnny Marr, Justin Hawkins, Kelly Jones, Mark Knopfler, Mick Jones, Nile Rodgers, Noel Gallagher, Paul McCartney, Paul Stanley, Paul Weller, Peter Green, Phil Manzanera, Robert Fripp, Serge, Slash, Steve Jones, John Squire, Wayne Kramer, Wilko Johnson. The product of Scarlet’s two year global quest to photograph the greatest guitar players, Resonators has been self funded via a successful Kickstarter campaign. A percentage of the profits will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust. All Resonators artwork has been designed by Warren Jackson, with additional wording from novelist Ben Myers. Explaining why she is fascinated by the person behind the guitar and why she wanted to capture them, Scarlet says; “Ultimately … they are just instruments; a guitar is always a guitar, but the human face is constantly changing and it is people that I’m really interested in.”

She continues; ‘The response from everyone has been overwhelming, and the demand for a book has been so high that we knew we had to get it published. I’ve never had my own book published before so it became very personal. As a photographer I’ve had my work published in many other books, and photographed artists for their own books, but this is something really special.”

Two days a week, without fail, I trawl through the negative archival boxes and make selections and mark out missing contact sheets to be remade. My excellent assistant tirelessly works through handling, scanning and retouching the old shots. We have been doing this for years and are still only at ‘N’ alphabetically. Next mission will be the transparency filing cabinets that fill me with dread!

CMAT performed at Radio 1’s Big Weekend last weekend and delivered. But instead of talking about her brilliant music, the internet spent the week talking about her body.

She’s now had to write a lengthy statement about it and this isn’t the first time.

She described her success being ‘tarnished’ by the fact she’d be allowed to enjoy it more if she were thin. Let that sink in will you?

In a world that increasingly worships Ozempic and treats thinness as a moral achievement, the cruelty directed at women who don’t comply has got louder.

is a brilliant artist. The discourse around her body is tedious, cruel and,as she rightly says, so boring.

33 years ago I did my first shoot, so interesting to see how little the rates have increased over the years. With everything else going up in cost, equipment, memory cards, hard drives, software etc etc I could go on. Photographers please value your talent and command your worth 🙌🏻 this is not a hobby! Can you relate?
