Concept to Creation (Part 5): The Edit

In the final class of this 5-part series, I’ll be sharing the editing process used to complete the image and bring the concept to its final form.

Starting with the raw file captured during the shoot, I’ll walk you through the steps I take in Photoshop, sharing the techniques and decisions that help transform the image from camera capture to finished artwork.

We’ll look at how the edit supports the original vision, enhances the details, refines the mood, and ties together everything we have worked through during the previous stages of the project.
This is the final piece of the puzzle, where concept, planning, building, and photography all come together to create the finished image.

Concept to Creation (Part 4): The Shoot

In this class, I take you behind the scenes of the newborn session as the completed concept finally comes to life in camera.

I share the setup, lighting, camera angles, settings, wrapping, positioning, and safety considerations used throughout the shoot, along with the small details that helped create the final image.

This series has been such an incredible journey to share, and this is the stage where everything starts coming together.

In Part 4 of this series, everything comes together as I photograph a newborn baby in the completed prop.

This class includes behind-the-scenes footage of the full shoot, where I’ll walk you through the setup, lighting, camera angles, focal length, camera settings, wrapping, and positioning used to safely photograph the baby within the prop.

I’ll also share the safety considerations involved, how I position and support the baby comfortably, and the small adjustments that help create the final image in camera.

This is where you’ll see the concept move from planning and building into a finished photograph, bringing every stage of the creative process together.
