Another late one, which means another double feature…

Meet CHARLIE & BEN 🖤🤍

I’m so touched to see “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” reaching homes in so many different countries. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far, shared it with others, and helped raise awareness of these extraordinary breeds.

I’m also excited to let you know that the book will be back in stock tomorrow!

If you’re new here, “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is a black and white photography book exploring how the images we create influence the way we understand a subject, Greyhounds and Galgos in this case, and what happens when these dogs are seen beyond images of performance and abuse.

For centuries, Greyhounds and Galgos appeared throughout art and visual culture as symbols of elegance, loyalty and status. Today, however, they are most often represented through racing, hunting and abuse. While these stories and images are incredibly important, they can also become the images that define the breeds. They are also often difficult to look at, often making us turn our gaze away.

The book was born from a desire to offer a different perspective. Set against London’s architecture, each portrait invites the viewer to pause on the image rather then turning away, and to see Greyhounds and Galgos not only through what has happened to them, but through who they are: individuals with an incredible history, resilience, and their own unique stories.

Every dog featured in the book has a name, a family and an identity, and I’ve been introducing one every week.

50% of all proceeds are donated to Project Galgo , to help more sighthounds find the future they deserve.

And finally, this post is for Charlie, who is no longer with us. His portrait has now reached homes in several countries, and has helped greyhounds like him be seen 🤍🖤

It’s that time of the week again! And yes, it’s late, but it’s a special one…

Because I’ve been bad and skipped a week, today’s feature introduces not one, but two hounds from “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London”, and some pretty special ones.

Everybody, let me introduce Tora & Ronda 🖤🤍

Tora and Ronda are not only our cover girls, but also two dogs without whom this book wouldn’t exist.

I first discovered Project Galgo, the incredible charity the book supports, when they reached out a few years ago to ask if I could contribute a prize for one of their auctions. I offered a photoshoot and who won it? Yes, Tora!

And Tora was so special that I had to ask her to model for me again while I tried out a new photography technique.

At that point, the book wasn’t even an option yet. I had only thought about creating a small fundraising calendar, like I do every year.

But once again, Tora helped me create images that just made me want more. So, a month later, I decided it was going to be a book. And that’s thanks to Tora and her dads, who are among the kindest and most supportive people out there.

And then there’s Ronda.

Ronda’s guardian is Helena herself, the founder of Project Galgo. Helena (she’s gonna hate this) is another incredible soul who, and I’ve witnessed it myself many times over, devotes her life to helping these special dogs and their people.

Although I only spent a short time with Ronda, Helena’s words about her (and the fact that she refused my cuts to her text while I was putting the book together) were enough to fill in the gaps. Her story is part of the book and a clear testament to why Helena does what she does, and why she won’t stop.

There are many more hounds to meet in the book, so if you’d like to spend some time with them, you can order a copy via the link in my bio under “The Book”. There, you’ll also find Helena’s narration of her first encounter with Ronda, alongside a beautiful insight into just how special Galgos are.

Thank you, Tora & Ronda, and their guardians, for being the inspiration behind this project 🖤🤍

A bit late this week, but here we go: time to meet another wonderful greyhound model from the book “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” 🖤

Despite looking graceful and composed, every Greyhound and Galgo in my book is an individual. Each has a name, a family, and a story that sits alongside their portrait.

And since so many of you have said that reading about each dog has been one of your favourite parts, I’m sharing one of them here every week in the hope of helping them be seen for who they are, and of helping us hold the gaze on them a little longer.

If you’d like to spend more time with these dogs and their stories, I’m so happy to share that “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is now back in stock and available via the link in my bio, with 50% of the proceeds donated to Project Galgo 🤍

Finally, a huge thank you to Crossness Pumping Station for allowing us to shoot in such an incredible location!

Time for our special book feature, and today you get to meet SPONGEBOB 🖤

Since I forgot to take a video of him on the day of his shoot, here he is in his natural habitat with his super mum .

Plus, it’s his 8th birthday next month!

Every hound in my book “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London is an individual”. Each has a name, a family, and a story that sits alongside their portrait.

And since so many of you have said that reading about each dog has been one of your favourite parts, I’ll keep sharing one of them here every week, hoping you can not only get to our models, but also see these wonderful dogs under a different light if you don’t know much about them.

If you would like to spend more time with these dogs and their stories, the book Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London is available through the link in bio, with 50% of the proceeds donated to 🤍

Time for our weekly feature 🤍

Every hound in my book “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is an individual.

Since so many of you have said that reading about each dog has been one of your favourite parts, I’ve been introducing one of them here every week.

This week, meet MIMI🖤

The project was never intended to catalogue harm, nor to persuade through guilt. Instead, it asks us to hold the gaze. To see Greyhounds and Galgos beyond performance and beyond pity, and to recognise them as the incredible beings they are: shaped by a long history, carrying their present with them, and still open to a different future.

If you would like to spend more time with these dogs and their stories, the book Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London is available through the link in bio, with 50% of the proceeds donated to 🤍

Ask those questions, message me if you’re shy 🖤

A few answers:
No, your dog doesn’t have to be on lead.
No, your dog doesn’t need to be trained.
Yes, you can be in the photographs, too.
Yes, it’s an early morning one. At least’s it’s not too hot.
No, your dog doesn’t need to be a sighthound.

Five sessions are available this July. Let’s see if we can make those portraits happen.

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means…

Time to introduce you to another one of our models and survivors 🖤

And our little reminder that every hound featured in my book “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is first and foremost an individual. Each one has a name, a family, and a personal story that lives alongside their portrait.

So many of you have told me that discovering the stories behind the dogs has been one of the most meaningful parts of the book, so I’ve been sharing one here each week since!

This week featured hound is: TAPAS 🖤

This project was never created to raise awareness through suffering, nor to convince through images of abuse. Instead, I hope it invites us simply to hold the gaze a little longer, instead of looking away. To meet Greyhounds and Galgos beyond performance and beyond pity, and to see them for who they are: beings shaped by history, carrying their experiences with them, and still capable of a different future.

If you’d like to spend more time with these dogs and their stories, “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” will be back in stock soon, with 50% of proceeds donated to 🤍

One of the most common things people tell me before a session is:

“My dog never looks at the camera.”

Which is usually absolutely fine.
Because I’m much more interested in everything else.

The way they stop to listen to a sound.
The way they watch people passing by.
The way they look at you when you speak to them.

The photos my clients end up loving most are rarely the perfectly posed ones. They’re the ones that feel natural and remind them of what was happening around them on the day.

So if your dog is curious, distracted, independent, reactive, or excitable, we’ll get on just fine.

What do you think your dog would be most interested in on a shoot in London?

It’s Tuesday, and by now we know what that means…

In my book “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London”, every dog is seen as their own being. Each one carries a name, a home, and a story that sits beside their portrait.

Many of you have told me how much these stories have stayed with you, so I wanted to create a space to share them more regularly. Each week I will introduce one of the dogs from the book.

This week we meet CHESTER 🖤

From the beginning, this work was not about documenting suffering or asking for attention through shock. It is an invitation to look a little longer, and to see Greyhounds and Galgos outside of expectation or pity.

They are shaped by a long and complex history, present in their own lives, and still full of possibility for what comes next.

If you would like to spend more time with Chester and the others, “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is available through the link in bio, with 50% of proceeds going to 🤍
