Another late one, which means another double feature…
Meet CHARLIE & BEN 🖤🤍
I’m so touched to see “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” reaching homes in so many different countries. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far, shared it with others, and helped raise awareness of these extraordinary breeds.
I’m also excited to let you know that the book will be back in stock tomorrow!
If you’re new here, “Greyhounds & Galgos: Echoes of London” is a black and white photography book exploring how the images we create influence the way we understand a subject, Greyhounds and Galgos in this case, and what happens when these dogs are seen beyond images of performance and abuse.
For centuries, Greyhounds and Galgos appeared throughout art and visual culture as symbols of elegance, loyalty and status. Today, however, they are most often represented through racing, hunting and abuse. While these stories and images are incredibly important, they can also become the images that define the breeds. They are also often difficult to look at, often making us turn our gaze away.
The book was born from a desire to offer a different perspective. Set against London’s architecture, each portrait invites the viewer to pause on the image rather then turning away, and to see Greyhounds and Galgos not only through what has happened to them, but through who they are: individuals with an incredible history, resilience, and their own unique stories.
Every dog featured in the book has a name, a family and an identity, and I’ve been introducing one every week.
50% of all proceeds are donated to Project Galgo , to help more sighthounds find the future they deserve.
And finally, this post is for Charlie, who is no longer with us. His portrait has now reached homes in several countries, and has helped greyhounds like him be seen 🤍🖤
