About Me

No sudden career switches for me, I’ve been behind a camera for my entire professional life. I started out in the crazy world of advertising and celebrity portraiture, where my work was featured on billboards, buses and album covers, and in countless magazines. I started shooting weddings around a decade ago, initially as a favour to my commercial clients – creative types who didn’t want

a traditional cheesy wedding snapper to shoot their big day. But it fast became a passion as I discovered the endless creative possibilities – the chance to nail all that rich raw emotion, to tell a story through my images. Truth be told, it became kind of addictive – and so here I am today. My Approach

There’s lots of buzzwords around wedding photography right now – reportage, documentary, creative, contemporary, fine art, bespoke – all of which could be applied to me, though really I like to think my images speak for themselves. On the day, I maintain a low-key presence and capture events as they unfold, documenting the major moments and the minor details and providing you with a beautiful set of images that feel true to your character and that of your wedding day. Some couples also want more formal group shots, which I also do (though experience has taught me they’re best kept to a minimum, no more than 15 mins. Particularly large or complicated weddings may require a second photographer, and for these occasions I have a couple of trusted second shooters on whom I call. Lighting, composition, right-place-right-time – these are all vital components of successful wedding photography. But to my mind stamina is the secret weapon of the wedding photographer – the ability to maintain energy, a fresh eye and bonhomie from the very first picture to the very last. Two decades at the sharp end of lengthy, high-pressure photo shoots have trained me well, and also taught me to cope with pretty much any eventuality a wedding throws at me (marquee taking off in high winds, monkeys stealing my equipment – yes really!) and still get the shots.
