Producing podcasts isn’t just about hitting record—it’s a front-row seat to endless learning. Every episode, I get the chance to dive into new topics, hear unique perspectives, and broaden my understanding of the world around me.

Learning has always been a part of who I am, but the journey took a life-changing turn after my heart attack. Before then, I’d never even held a camera. Afterward, driven to rebuild and grow, I taught myself video production from scratch. Today, I’m proud to say those self-taught skills have led to award-shortlisted projects.

What I’ve learned along the way is that life is always offering us a chance to reinvent ourselves, to find new passions, and to become better than we were yesterday. Sometimes, it takes facing our toughest challenges to uncover our truest strengths. So, don’t fear the unknown. Embrace it, let it teach you, and watch yourself grow in ways you never imagined possible.

So, I’m filming a music video today, and this is my kit. The whole boot is packed with gear… and believe it or not, this is me being a minimalist filmmaker! 🤦🏽‍♂️

When I first started, I used to borrow my wife’s SUV, and even that was overflowing with equipment. I had so much gear, I’d lost track of what I owned, and honestly, I was only using about 20% of it!

We’re all guilty of chasing the latest gadgets, thinking we need more to achieve more. But the truth is, greatness isn’t about the tools; it’s about how we use them. In filmmaking, as long as the story is solid and you have a clear idea of how the visual story will hook people to watch, the gear just has a supporting role.

Working with less forces us to be creative, to think outside the box, and to make the most of what we have. It’s a powerful lesson for all of us—not just creatives. Sometimes, limitations aren’t obstacles; they’re opportunities to innovate and shine. So, remember: you don’t need more, you just need to be more.

Yesterday, I was sitting on a bench, editing a video while my kids were at football training. It got me thinking about how we manage to balance everything—work, family, and life’s everyday moments.

For the longest time, I believed success was about working harder, longer hours, and sacrificing personal time. But I’m starting to see it differently. Success is about being present for both the work that inspires us and the people we care about.

Being able to work from anywhere, even a park bench, is a game changer. I can meet deadlines while still being there to watch my kids play, learning that it's not just about balancing work and life but integrating them in a way that works for us.

I’ll always get the job done, but moments like these remind me of what truly matters.

When I first picked up a camera in 2019, I had no experience or knowledge, just a heart full of passion and a desire to tell stories through film. I remember that I would talk to Allah and telling him that I have no clue what I’m doing but I know that he’ll help me and keep my niyat straight and true - to make sure that the rest of my life is dedicated to making content that has a positive impact. It’s been a transformative journey, and this week in Berlin has been a beautiful reminder of how talking to our King and believing in him (despite all the challenges along the way) can make even your wildest dreams come true!!

Today, on hashtag , I'm taking a moment to reflect on a pivotal journey in my life—one filled with fear, uncertainty, and ultimately, courage. I have never shared this before, so here goes!!

A few years ago, I made a decision that many would consider unconventional—I sold my successful recruitment business to step into the world of videography, despite having little to no experience in the field. To say I was scared would be an understatement, especially as I approached the milestone of turning 40.

Going from one career to another was unbelievingly daunting. There were moments of doubt, questioning whether I was making the right choice or if I was simply too late to start again. But in all the uncertainty, there was excitement, a glimmer of hope that pushed me forward!

As I dived into the world of videography, I encountered a number of different people—some genuinely kind, others, let's just say, intriguing in their own unique ways 👀. Each interaction, each project, became a lesson in resilience and adaptability.

Through the ups and downs, I came to a profound realisation—age is merely a number, and it's never too late to rewrite your story. I discovered that embracing change, stepping out of your comfort zone, and pursuing your passions can lead to unexpected opportunities and personal growth.

I never thought that I'd find myself knee-deep in content creation! Rewind to 2019, and I couldn't even fathom holding a camera, let alone editing videos. But life has a funny way of steering us down unexpected paths.

After a heart attack reshaped my perspective, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, diving headfirst into the world of content creation. What started as a timid step into the unknown quickly evolved into a passion project fueled by purpose.
Fast forward to today, and the satisfaction I find in content creation is beyond words.

There's something profoundly gratifying about pouring creativity and effort into a video, only to witness its positive impact on others. Whether it's a smile, a moment of inspiration, or a nugget of knowledge gained, knowing that my content resonates with someone out there fills my heart with joy.
