Since we announced Aucitya, one question has come up often:

Why Aucitya, and not Auchitya?

The answer sits in the Sanskrit root of the word औचित्य.

Aucitya means appropriateness, harmony, or rightness. It is a word that carries a deep sense of balance — between context and decision, form and function, beauty and restraint.

When we named the studio, we chose the academically accurate transliteration: Aucitya.

In the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration, the letter “c” represents the “ch” sound. So while Aucitya is pronounced Auchitya, its spelling preserves the classical Sanskrit form.

That choice matters to us.

Because Aucitya is also how we think about homes.

Every decision must feel right for the person, the space, the material, the light, the craft, and the life that will unfold inside it.

Classical accuracy. Intentional design. A home that feels right.

We are Aucitya.
Pronounced Auchitya.

Sharing some imperfection ❤️

Live Photos that I would’ve never used otherwise, but they have become priceless now. In the age of perfect beauty, perfect shots, perfect speech… imperfections of being human is what I personally seek.

The balance Five Elements in interior design.

The names are ancient, but the logic is entirely relevant. One can achieve the balance in any space by training the eye to see elements before style, color, or furniture.

Hampi Photographed with Love. 🤍
They say “familiarity breeds contempt,” but in Hampi, familiarity only breeds a deeper kind of love. 10 years and 20+ visits later, I am still finding new stories in these ancient rocks.

This place has taught me so much about light and patience. That is what photography is: the art of returning, looking deeper, and falling in love with the same places over and over again.

It’s the reason I choose to visit the same countries time and again. I would much rather truly “know” a place than simply check off new destinations for the sake of a list. For a photographer, the real work begins once you look past the obvious.

When the temperatures drop and the water turns to ice, the spirit of the Shikara remains unshaken. Chilla-i-Kalan on Dal Lake is a different kind of magic. 🌬️🛶

Imagine the first time you see Snowfall and also frozen Dal Lake in the same trip! January of 2021 🤍

This is Hampi, raw and unfiltered. 🧡
Which composition speaks to you the most?

I’m posting these straight from the phone for a specific reason. There is zero editing on these. No filters, no color grading, no manipulation.

I wanted to share it with you guys: Editing does not make or break an image. Sure, editing does enhance a good shot, but if your composition isn’t strong, no amount of preset magic can save you.

And here’s the thing—I didn’t rely on the law of averages, taking 500 photos just to get 20 lucky ones. Even though I have a phone with 1TB storage, I shot these with the mindset of a film photographer.

I didn’t press that shutter until I had already visualized the final shot in my head. Every single frame here was intentional. If you’ve been to the Hampi photography tour with me, you’d have heard for sure “observe and absorb the place, visualise and then touch your camera.”

Happy shooting! 🤍

We are often taught that rules exist to prevent mistakes, but in art, “mistakes” are often where the style hides.

There are endless ways to push boundaries beyond these examples—like intentionally breaking a repetitive pattern just to create tension. The mindset is simple: whenever you encounter a “rule,” challenge yourself to see if breaking it actually creates a stronger result.
