Andrew Mason Photography I am a London based professional photographer specialising in portrait, music and event photography.

Since 2006 I have been a photographer based in London specialising in photographing people. My clients are often business people, musicians, actors, models, and families. Anyone who needs professional photos to represent themselves. Hopefully my amenable, friendly and relaxed approach will help you feel at ease while I take your photos. It’s not going to be a case of sitting there saying cheese an

d feeling awkward, but a session you enjoy where we spend some time talking about what you do, and you end up with a set of photos you’re happy with.

London skyline and cocktails = a fabulous combination for an evening.

Here are a few detail shots and outtakes from a lovely event I photographed last night at Duck and Waffle.

Breathtaking views and delicious looking drinks for some very lucky lawyers.

I recently shot a new set of profile pictures for Ramsay Brown LLP as part of their updated website launch.

The brief was to move away from the overly formal headshot style and create something more relaxed and approachable—images that reflect the firm’s real personality and how they work with clients.

We kept things simple: natural light, minimal setup, and plenty of conversation to capture people looking like themselves—not stiff or overly posed. The result is a set of portraits that still feel professional, but with a bit more warmth and authenticity.

Great to work with a team that understood the value of showing the human side of their business.

Last post of 2024 and it has to be Christmassy!

A few shots of a company who really know how to throw, and how to enjoy, a really good Christmas Party.

It’s company Christmas party time, and if you want to elevate the photos you take on the night, here are 5 easy to do tips:

Use Portrait Mode (When You Can) - Most phones have Portrait Mode which blurs the background (bokeh effect), making your subject stand out. It’s ideal for close-ups and medium shots. Just make sure there’s enough light for it to work effectively.

Find Good Lighting - Lighting is everything in photography. Natural light is your best friend, but Christmas party venues are usually dark so look for light from table lamps or other sources such as the stage, bar or signage. Face people towards the light so the light falls on their face. Try not to use the light from overhead spotlights as it’s really unflattering.

Focus on the Eyes - Tap on your subject’s eyes to focus. The eyes are the most important part of a people photos, so keeping them sharp draws viewers into the photo.

Keep It Steady - Lots of phones have a night mode that kicks in when you take photos in the dark. It takes a while to take the shot. You’ll get better results if you hold the camera steady during this time, this gets harder as the night wears on and the drinks kick in!

Experiment with Angles - People can look slightly better if they look up towards the camera when you’re shooting, rather than down towards you as it plays havoc with the jawline. You can also try placing lights close to your phone and having them out of focus in the foreground to get some Christmas atmosphere in the shot.

Last month I photographed a 5-a-side tournament that was more than just a set of matches. It was sweat-soaked jerseys, last-minute tackles, and goal celebrations like it was the World Cup.

It’s an annual tournament organised by a client of mine, Rame.

The energy was contagious—players giving their all, supporters cheering every move, and plenty of laughs along the way. It might’ve been called a “friendly,” but trust me, the intensity on the pitch said otherwise.

The best part? It was all for a good cause. Big thanks to the organisers, the players, and everyone who came to support. These kinds of events aren’t just fun to photograph—they remind you what sport and community are all about.
