“Pippa Healy’s photographic practice is a sustained inquiry into loss, longing, and absence. The series All the Places We Will Never See is rooted in her father’s death and the grief surrounding it. When he died, the only object she felt contained his essence was his pocket atlas. Carrying it, she set out to visit places they had spoken about with a small 35mm Contaxt T2 camera. Moving through landscapes in a meditative state, the work enacts a form of walking grief. She documented these walks by shooting images without looking through the viewfinder, on pre-treated film that broke into glitches and auras. Drawing on Barthes, Flusser, and glitch theory, She treats the photograph not as a window onto what was but as an object marked by what can never be recovered.”
