A little insight into the camera work of Body of Our Own…

Kit used:

1. Fujifilm XF 50mm F1.0 WR Black Fujinon Lens
2. Fujifilm XF 18-120mm F/4 LM PZ WR

+ Fujifilm X-T4 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Stabilised with a DJI Ronin Gimbal.

All the shoots were really low budget, which forced the directors to learn some trades themselves. Rahemur Rahman quickly picked up sound recording, and ☤ L I L Y 🪷 V E T C H ☤ carried her training in fashion photography into shooting.

A note from Lily:

‘During the earlier trips, I was lucky to be lent kit by FUJIFILM UK and Ireland to shoot Body of Our Own, which let me experiment with different lenses. I settled on the 50mm for its cinematic, soft feel in close-ups, and the 18-120mm for wider shots capturing the epic South Asian landscapes. The kit was incredibly versatile - surviving 40-degree heat in the warmer months. Quick set-ups were imperative given the hectic changes in location.’

Thank you Fuji for your support

Some cult classics that teach us the importance of accepting human fragility and how love rules all.

They continue to be my source of inspiration as I move into this next phase of fiction development ✍️

Reworking some old projects for

‘Hijra is a culture, that has been passed down from our ancestors.’ Rani Chowdhury accounting a well known belief within the Hijra culture. The Hijras have existed for centuries and mystical tales once surrounded them. It was because of the British colonial era, which introduced homosexuality as illegal, that sent them to the edges of society,

We felt very honoured to work on this short film for as they elebrate gender-diverse cultures from around the world for  .

I will always hold my breath remembering when this great pre-historic creature swooped down from the trees onto my arm to collect its already mauled chick. It was a connection to our ancestors… a connection to a practice centuries old that came from Pakistan, the Middle East, Serbia. That trilling haunting call that echoed around the surrounding buildings. It has been swooping into my dreams.

I imagine many people wonder about the ethics of Falconry but over the 4 days I spent with Paul I learnt about this balanced relationship. If done right you are only a hunting partner. There is no emotional relationship in the same way as domestic pets. When the bird flies off they can easily leave you and not come back because they will survive in the wild. This symbiotic relationship is what made me love the practice and reminded me of how we should treat wild animals, only as accommodating and not controlling.

If you would like to join Paul on a 5 days course do email:

Words from Lily as she approaches 33.

You spend years in the dark writing writing pitching pitching. rejection is just a daily occurrence. And we watch the same filmmakers repeatedly getting the awards. I always get excited when I look on winners accounts who have low followers because you know they haven’t mastered the art of social media but have the talent. Art shouldn’t be about followers and likes - it should be about creativity and refining craft. But this is the way of the world and really it’s a ride or die game.

The skin gets thicker, we brush our knees off, get up again the next morning and try and stay in love with the art.

Community is a lifeline and without your tribe you can’t thrive.

Gatekeeping reeps insecurity and my best mentors have been the ones that share and care about growth - has mainly been women I have to say.

Rewatch films that defined you and continue to be your subconscious bible.

And sleep because the industry moves quickly and your health will thank you when you’re old.

Success can land at any age so don’t lose hope.

Get a cat because you can always find someone to babysit when you go away. But don’t if you haven’t got a garden.

Over and out ✌️

Honeyed tea in the mornings. Sprinklers in the grass. Children’s chirrups coming through the window. Fragrant flowers filling the streets. Rosé at dusk. Sweat slick across my forehead. Birds twittering along to the hum of the city. Glossy pedicures. Dates outside. Kissing in the long grass. Almost naked to the club. Long drives to cornwall. Neighbours playing music in the garden. First strawberry of the season. Strawberry picking with Dad. Ducklings in Clissold park. Running. Cold deep green sea. Sound of a sail. Seaweed flicking your legs. Bottle green glass shaped so smooth. Creamy hokey pokey ice cream. Gigs that shake you. Lollies. Ottos many positions in a heatwave. Purring. 🪻🌸🌼🌻🌞🌹🌺🌾🥀🪻💐🪸🦦🦔
