PART 2- Nightingale Charity Walk on 15th May 2026
I had the privilege of taking part in the Nightingale Charity Walk on 15th May 2026. I arrived at around 6:30pm, and the atmosphere was already buzzing with excitement and anticipation. There was a real sense that something special was about to begin.
The event had fantastic energy from the start. The choir MumSing performed, bringing a beautiful and uplifting sound that set the tone for the evening. There was also music, dancing, mascots, and a wonderfully positive atmosphere throughout. Everything felt well organised and full of community spirit.
There was a Nightingale charity stall offering various merchandise.
It was incredible to see so many people come together, with around 1,300 participants taking part. Families, children, couples, and older members of the community all gathered, most dressed in red, the charity colour. Visually, it was stunning — especially once the walk began.
The first group set off at 7:00pm for the 15k route, followed shortly after by the 5k and 10k walkers at around 7:10pm. As the walk moved through Enfield, especially through the park, it created a truly unforgettable sight — a long red “snake” of people stretching through the landscape. It was powerful and striking.
The route started at the Civic Centre, continued towards Dugdale, and then through the park and surrounding areas. Along the way, volunteers and supporters encouraged walkers, creating a really supportive and uplifting atmosphere throughout.
What stood out most was the mood of the participants — everyone was smiling, talking, cheering each other on, and fully embracing the experience. Some added their own creative touches with costumes, lights, and bubbles, making it even more joyful.
As I photographed the event, it was lovely to see how open everyone was to being captured.
The walk looped back through the park and returned to Dugdale before finishing at the Civic Centre. Crossing the finish line was a very special moment. Volunteers were waiting with medals, applause, and encouragement, creating a warm and emotional atmosphere for everyone completing the challenge.
It didn’t matter whether participants completed 5k, 10k, or 15k — what mattered was taking part and supporting an important cause. At the finish, people gathered at the photo wall to capture memories and celebrate their achievement together.
Overall, it was a powerful and uplifting event — a real celebration of community and kindness in Enfield.
If you haven’t been before, I would highly recommend joining next year. And if you have been — I’ll see you there again next year!
A huge thank you to the Nightingale charity for organising such a special evening.
