Album cover and promotional images for musician whose album Black Sea is released today. We created these back in January. It's Sonias' first album and explores her identity, which is a mix of British Jewish, Russian & Ukrainian. This heritage influenced the symbols used in the imagery and also in her stage show. The Sunflower for Ukraine, the pomegranate for her Jewishness, she's wearing a small Russina firebird brooch, and English rose petals.

I saw a Gregory Crewdson exhibition many years ago at the V&A. This image is up there with his best. Worth the 7 min watch to see the amount of effort put into creating the image. A very large artic truck with all the kit in it is shown briefly - it's more filmmaking than photography in scale.

A Meditation on Home

Collaboration with model & photographer Kayt Webster Brown who got in touch end of September looking for a studio. She was photographing talent from Crumb Agency for . I’m trying to do more collaborations as it’s a good way to network and try things out in the studio.

Going to drip the 5 sets we produced in slowly in the run up to Xmas.

First up is Harj… about 15 minutes after he arrived, we realised our paths must have crossed back in the late 90s / early 00’s at Fiction, DTPM and Trade. He used to DJ at Friction at The Cross on Friday nights, which I frequented occasionally.

Head over to Kayts’ feed on Instagram to see her fantastic shots of Harj. She was shooting bright high key portraits on white. As you can see, I went for something little different. I created a set in my studio reception using an old chair I’d found on the street a few weeks earlier. The set was used for filming short interviews with the talent and these editorial-style portraits. Good practice for being quick, as I spent no more than 5-10 minutes max with each person.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful OH. 🥰🥰

29 years together and we’re still going strong. She puts up with the odd hours I work now that I’m a photographer and run a studio.

We still have fun, this was from our little trip to Loveland festival in Amsterdam last month. We were at the 909 stage in this lovely tree fringed glade and was on the decks. Slight change from the first time we saw him at daytime club sometime in the noughties in an old victorian toilet that had been converted into a tiny venue called Public Life. I think there were about about 40 people there.
