I won the Astronomy Photographer of the Year Annie Maunder Prize again! 🎉
I’m stoked to have my work ‘Fourth Dimension’ win the category. It’s a macro micro study of an image I took of the incredible Widmanstätten pattern that can form inside some meteorites blended with gravitational lensing data from JWST. ☄️
Many of you know how much effort I put into producing artwork for the competition this year. From importing a specific tree stump from Northern Ireland, to rushing to the opposite side of London to collect prints that I could expose before certain wavelengths of sunlight hit our planet, countless astronomy book purchases for inspiration and countless late nights spent staring at stars on a computer screen.
Winning the Annie Maunder Open Category is recognition for the huge effort, time and madness that goes into producing these artworks. 5800 images were submitted to this year’s competition, including one from an astronaut on the International Space Station. To have my work displayed alongside the best astronomy photographers in (and out of) the world is an honour. 🌍 💫
Thanks to for another great Private View last night. An evening full of great imagery, canapés, meeting new and familiar faces and even signing some signatures for good measure ✍️
