You don’t need an elaborate dress or loads of accessories to create a maternity portrait that feels beautiful.

Sometimes soft light, simple fabric and the shape of your bump are more than enough. I love that this feels feminine without being overly styled, and that the focus stays completely on Mum.

If you’ve been considering a maternity session but you’re unsure what you’d wear or whether you’d know what to do in front of the camera, please don’t worry about either. Styling and posing are part of the experience, and I’ll guide you throughout so you can concentrate on enjoying being looked after for a change. ❤️

Sometimes you don’t need a big setup at all.

A close up like this catches all those ridiculously tiny details that change before you’ve really had time to register them. The little eyelashes, soft cheeks, newborn lips and even the way their face scrunches while they sleep.

Parents often tell me later that they can’t quite remember their baby being this small, despite spending practically every waking hour staring at them at the time. That’s one of the reasons these simpler portraits are always an important part of a newborn gallery for me.

I’m a big believer that newborn photographs should still look beautiful years from now, which is why I’m always drawn to warm tones, texture and simple styling like this.

Props can add so much to an image when they complement your baby rather than becoming the main attraction. Ultimately, I still want you to notice that little face first.

If you’re expecting and you already know you’d love newborn photographs, it’s worth booking while you’re still pregnant. We reserve your space around your due date and arrange the actual session once your baby has arrived, so there’s no need to predict the day they’ll decide to make an appearance!
