A home can be colourful without being loud.
For me, colour is never simply decoration. It can create energy, warmth and rhythm, guide the eye through a space and, perhaps most importantly, influence how that space makes us feel.
In this home, the starting point was not a particular style. It was the people living here.
The deep green kitchen grounds this open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, while blue, terracotta and flashes of pattern bring warmth and personality. Natural light, texture and quieter neutral elements give the eye somewhere to rest. Each zone has its own identity, while still feeling connected to the whole.
This is at the heart of how I design: starting with the people who will live in a home and understanding that our response to an environment is not only aesthetic, but emotional and physiological too. Colour, light, proportion, rhythm and materiality all play a part, but it is how they work together, and how we experience the environment as a whole, that ultimately shapes how a home makes us feel.
Because a beautiful home shouldn’t ask you to adapt to it. It should support the way you want to live.
