St Thomas Moore Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Harlow Essex… designed by the architect Gerard Goalen. Built between 1958 and 1960. Gerard Thomas Goalen (16 December 1918 – 2 January 1999) was a British architect who specialised in church architecture and was influenced by continental models and the Liturgical Movement. Out & about hanging around whilst my wife popped in to Harlow for an appointment… This is Spring Hills Tower in Harlow Essex… a Modernist 9-storey, 45-dwelling residential block commissioned by the Harlow New Town Development Corporation. It is a 1960s-era tower block that was part of the post-war redevelopment of Harlow, often associated with the master planning of architect-planner Sir Frederick Gibberd who was the architect for many well known & notable buildings…

Haven’t posted for quite some time so Throw Back Thursdays a befitting day to do so! My son is a young budding artist who lives and loves creating sketches, his talent absolutely blows me away… here he’s in his element when we bumped in to bubble gum artist Ben Wilson aka ‘Chewing Gum Man’ They talked shop for a fair while, one artist enjoying conversation with another… what a lovely fella…
