4 years walking with God today 🤍

And 4 truths about His character and His love for me that I constantly return to, because remembering is part of living… and living in abundance.

• Nothing is lacking. Even when life feels dark, I do not have to fear, because He is with me. Easier said than done… sometimes I still panic 😅 Psalm 23

For a long time, I thought healing meant becoming someone else.

Now I know it’s actually returning to who God created me to be.

And this is the place from which I create now.

Not from performance.
Not from survival.
Not from needing to prove my worth.

But from presence.
From love.
From peace.
From connection.

It shapes the way I photograph people, the way I guide them, and the kind of space I want others to experience through my work: safe, seen, at ease, and fully themselves.

The most meaningful moments happen when we stop performing and start truly being present.

The one thing no one tells you about engagement sessions…

Most couples think it’s simply about getting beautiful images before the wedding.

Yes… But it’s also so much more than that.

Your engagement session is your wedding day “rehearsal.”

The moment you realise you don’t have to “do it right.”

Where you simply move together in front of a camera, without pressure.
Discovering what makes you both laugh, what makes you go quiet, what makes you want to lean in.
Just present with each other, naturally.

My couples tell me their wedding portraits felt so much more natural because of the session we did together beforehand. The comfort was already built. The connection was already alive.

Most couples tell me the same thing before their wedding:

“We feel awkward in front of the camera.” “We’re not very photogenic.”

And usually, that feeling comes from thinking you need to know how to pose.

The truth is, you don’t.

One of the simplest ways I help couples feel comfortable during portraits is through gentle movement.

Walking together. Turning toward each other. Pausing naturally in between.

These small directions allow you to relax and stop thinking about the camera.

And when that happens, connection becomes visible.

Movement doesn’t replace emotion. It simply creates the space for it to appear.

I Am Healed.
Hi, I’m Ruth, the photographer behind all the work in this account.

When I first envisioned this self-portrait encounter, I called it my “Healing Journey.” But when I stood there, in that quiet space , I didn’t feel like I was healing. I felt at peace. Present. Confident. Secure in who God created me to be.
And I realised… It is no longer a healing journey.

It is I Am Healed.
No longer seeking validation, because I am seen. No longer searching for love, because I am loved. No longer performing, because I am present. No longer trying to fit in, because I am chosen. No longer trying to be who I’m not, because I am wonderfully made. No longer striving alone, because He strengthens me.
Is it always peaceful? Always quiet? Always easy?
No.
But is it worth it? 100% × 100%.

It is from this safe place , this grounded, healed space, that my work is created. The calm you feel when working with me isn’t accidental.
The presence. The intention.
The thoughtful direction.
Locations are scouted. Light is studied.
Movement is guided. Moments are intentionally crafted.

Just like healing doesn’t happen by accident, neither does meaningful art.

Both come from doing the heart work, and from that place, I create spaces where couples and families can feel safe, present, and fully themselves.

I’m so grateful for the families who trusted me last year, especially those who travelled from different corners of the world to reunite and create memories together.
