After an absence from the SWPP Monthly awards for a while I entered last month and, just like London Busses, after waiting for an award for so long, two came along at once! I got a gold for Commissioned Portrait of a very energetic Shih Tsu I had in the studio a little while ago. I also got a Highly Commended for a very elegant shot of .skar at the Crossness Pumping station! There’s also another image on my Panikosphotoart page from my recent trip to Iceland.

I wanted to say a huge thank you - once again - to the The Societies of Photographers for once again hosting the 2026 Photographic Convention! There is so much to see and do in a few days and it’s a great way to get your photographic mojo going for the new year. I can’t wait to learn from so many amazing photographers – from all parts of the world.
If you’re into photography in any way, this is most definitely the best way to start the new year you could wish to have. Come along and meet old friends and make lots of new ones, have laugh, a chat, maybe even a drink!
While you’re there see a masterclass or two, go hands on in a superclass, learn SO MUCH, and have fun while you’re doing it. If you’d like to see how much LED lighting has grown over the last couple of years come to my Superclass on the 16th January to see if its right for your studio, business or just for fun.

Our next winter escape to Iceland is all planned and ready to go, it'll be on the 21st January 2026! We got to see some incredible sights earlier this year as you can see from the photos attached, from the aurora borealis, to ice caves to geysers blowing boiling water into the air. We also went to the "touching point" of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, not to mention taking time out in geothermal spas for a little rest and relaxation! All this and as well as some tips on how to prepare for and get the very best out of whatever photographic gear you have (before you go and when you're there)! We've also chosen some lovely restaurants and a clearly mapped out itinerary, you'll have nothing to do but turn up at the airport and be taken to some of the most iconic landmarks in Iceland. Another fabulous SWPP Convention over, another great day of learning both for my group (as you can see they were still happy - and awake 😂 - after 90 minutes of me talking about lighting and posing) as well as so many others taking place at the Novotel Hammersmith! I can’t wait to do it all again next year!! Thank you to everyone at the for inviting me!!

This is one of the images I created while leading/training a group of .events photographers at which is a Victorian pumping station (don’t ask what it used to ”pump”) which looks truly incredible. Using a mixture of available light and flash to make the image “pop” with the balletic skills of one of our amazing models for the day .skar I ended up with this rather striking image. What do you think of it?
