Festival Wedding at Chalkney Water Meadows 🎉

I knew this wedding was going to be good when a pug came down the aisle in a wagon. Not the couple. The pug.

Her name is Puddles and, quite frankly, she stole the show.
First she made her grand entrance being pulled down the aisle by the bridesmaids. THEN she returned dressed as a hobbit carrying the rings. Which is honestly the sort of commitment to a bit that I can only admire. 💕

Jem & Lu didn’t spend the day trying to create some perfect version of what a wedding should look like. They filled it with things they actually love, created a space for everyone to just come together and have the best day and a day where Puddles could hang out with her humans too!

A sunny outdoor ceremony at with their friend as the celebrant. Drinks and canapés by the lake. Wandering through the woods for photos, piggy backs, a giant tipi full of brilliant humans and one very loved pug. I had an absolute hoot being part of it!! 💜

Very excited to be back there in August AND very excited to be a recommended supplier too 💕

Captains Wood Barn weddings will always have a special place in my heart 🖤
(One of my best friends got married there and I was a bridesmaid and it’s just such a magical place!)

Anyway back to Amber & Connors day! One of my favourite things about their day wasn’t the woodland ceremony or even the fact I got to spend the afternoon wandering through the woods taking photos…

It was the ploughman’s. 🧀

Okay stay with me! So instead of jumping straight into drinks after the ceremony, everyone sat down together to eat first. Which, in the middle of a ridiculously hot day, was so genius. It meant everyone had a drink, nobody was hungry, nobody was flagging and by the time everyone was out chatting and relaxing afterwards the heat had eased off a bit too. Which meant super lovely light for photos and I wasn’t a hot mess quite so much!

It was such a small change in the grand scheme of things, but I think it sums up the whole day perfectly.

They had a pagan ceremony in the woods with nods to Connor’s Jewish heritage. Chill time for food and speeches. A slow wander through the trees and a room absolutely bursting with love. It meant nothing felt rushed, forced or done just because it was ‘expected’. Everything was super intentional 💜

(Also, for the record, I was extremely happy about the amount of cheese involved.)

London town hall wedding photography for couples doing things their own way 🖤

Maddie & Andreas got married at Lambeth Town Hall surrounded by their favourite people and the whole day just felt very them. No pressure to do things a certain way just a day built around the stuff they actually enjoy.

We started at their flat hanging out with the cat while they got ready, headed over to the ceremony, drank fizz in the park, caused mild chaos with light sabers and then finished the night at Off The Cuff with pie & mash and one hell of a party.

This is exactly why I love ‘smaller’ weddings so much. There’s space to breathe. Space to actually hang out. Space for the day to unfold naturally without constantly rushing onto the next thing and just take it all in & space to just be present.

I’ve got room for some smaller weddings throughout the year so if you’re doing things your way and want some photos that capture the vibe then say hi!

Sunny spring wedding at the Reid Rooms ☀️

I met Claire through her craft business, so getting to photograph her wedding was something really special 🥹

One thing I’ll never do is try to change the shape of your day.
If something doesn’t feel like you, I’m not going to step in and make it happen just for the sake of a photo.

These two just got to be fully themselves and add in their quirky touches, moomins, skateboard and we had to get them behind the decks as Ricky is a DJ!

The best photos aren’t the perfectly planned ones. They’re the ones that feel like your day when you look back at them.
So whatever your wedding looks like; big, small, calm, chaotic
You get to do it your way & I’ll meet you there. 💜

Alternative Wedding at Houchins, Colchester ✨

One of my mottos/taglines if you will, is “your wedding, your rules” and I actually bloody mean that.

These two didn’t really do “formal”… so I didn’t make them.
There was no cheesy posing, no forcing moments that didn’t feel like them, no getting them to skip lovingly off into a sunset, no stopping the day every five minutes to “get the shot”.
I did however make them stand in a bamboo bush, hang out in the carpark & stick their fingers up at me.

I just let them be themselves. Hanging out together with all their pals and I was there to catch it as it happened. Thats how a wedding should be.

I don’t want to change you on your wedding day. I don’t want to turn it into something it’s not. The best photos come from you feeling comfortable enough to just be you, especially around me.

So if you’re not into formal, perfectly posed, “stand here and smile” vibes… you’re exactly my kind of people 🖤

Hot take as a wedding photographer planning my own wedding…
No pricing = more ghosting.

Right now I’m enquiring with suppliers and half the time I have no idea if something is £4k or £14k… (or more!) so I either have to send loads of emails or if it seems like a massive hurdle to try and contact you I’m just not gonna bother.

Then when you get a reply and it’s wildly over your budget I totally get why people will just disappear and not respond because they asked for a price and then got it. They’re not obliged at that stage to respond. (I mean I know as a supplier it’s a bit annoying still so personally I am sending the sorry email, but I totally get why people ghost at this stage now.)

So I’m starting to think maybe ghosting actually isn’t the issue here, it’s the lack of pricing transparency… I said what I said.

Let me know your thoughts below I’d love to hear from couples and suppliers… 🫣

PS If you have a zoom call with us though AND then you ghost thats a whole different kettle of fish. 🙄

Not every photo in your gallery is going to be one that you planned to happen, infact a lot of what I’m drawn towards is the unplanned moments that just happen.

There’s so much focus on how weddings look, trends, Pinterest boards, traditions but ultimately those things change over time. But what doesn’t is the feeling of the day, and I’m always trying my hardest to really just capture that in anyway I can.

I’ve had a tonne of zoom calls this week with couples planning for this year and next and the phrase that repeatedly comes up is “we just want to have a fun but relaxed day”. Not planning for too many specific photos and letting me just do my thing is definitely what allows this to happen 💜

If this is your vibe, hi 👋🏻
I’m currently booking weddings for 20206 & 2027 and I’d love to hear about your plans!

Colourful Spring wedding at the Barns at Lodge Farm

A wedding full of colour, personality and the best kind of meaningful details. From subtle Disney nods (if you know, you know 👀) to all the handmade touches. Rachel absolutely smashed it creating so much of the decor herself and it all tied together so beautifully. Im always a big fan of a lot of bold colour!

They had a celebrant ceremony filled with personal promises that actually felt like them, surrounded by their favourite people and I loved the handfasting ceremony with their families each representing a different sentiment with a colourful ribbon. I’ll always be a huge cheerleader for celebrants 💜

Lemmie tell you, it was also windy AF (thanks storm Dave?)
But instead of fighting it, they totally rolled with it. Veil flying, hair everywhere, tractor rides and laughter embracing it and those are always the moments that end up meaning the most. If you embrace it everyone else will.

I was also on a high from the Wes Anderson exhibition so there was definitely some Wes inspo intertwined in there too!

Also… this hit a little differently for me 🥹
This is my first full wedding since getting engaged, and it’s been so fun seeing the day from a slightly different perspective. Noticing the little things I love, like things to keep guests entertained (Rachel made little sip & solve puzzles for the tables)

If you’re planning a relaxed, non-traditional or alternative wedding in Essex (or anywhere in the UK) and want photos that feel like you, you know where I am 🖤

Okay so I’ve been a bit quiet on here… mainly because I’m now one of those people planning a wedding and I got super overwhelmed with all the love and comments on our engagement post (thank you!)

We’ve been off looking at venues, having all the chats & going back and forth on what we actually want (turns out it’s harder when you’ve seen so many weddings, I’ve seen so many cool ideas!)

Anyway… I’m back. Got my first full day wedding of the year tomorrow and I’m actually so ready to be back in it and even better it’s for one of my friends & second shooters wedding so extra special 💜

But today I’m gonna throw it back to this elopement I photographed for another one of my pals in York that I never got round to sharing.

We basically just wandered round all their favourite spots in the city, taking a trip down memory lane to spots that meant something to them (which also included a cheeky cupcake break!). It was the first time I’d been to York but I will deffo be heading back at some point - I need more ghosts!
Side note - taking photos on the Shambles is deffo a stealth task! 🤣IYKYK

I usually post something Friday the 13th related but I was too busy yesterday… getting engaged. Eeep!

On the cute cobbled streets of Edinburgh, when the sun finally come out, Johnny got down on one knee and asked me to marry him 🖤

Feels a little surreal to be on the other-side of it now but deffo gonna get straight in to planning so I guess I’m gonna need some advice on where to begin now!?
