Do you feel nervous about having your photo taken? You aren’t alone…Have you told yourself any of these to put off having photos for your business? Now’s not the right time…I’ll wait a little longer until things feel right…I need to lose some weight…I don’t have the right clothes…I don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera…If you have thought any or all of these things ahead of investing in a brand shoot for your business you are not alone! These are all things I hear a lot and if this is you then it might be holding you back. KEEP IT SIMPLEThere is never a ‘right’ time. Things are always changing and new challenges come along. It’s all part and parcel of running a business.Start small and keep it simple by opting for a mini session (I have some coming up in March, details to follow soon) or my one hour package. Ease yourself in and get used to having your photo taken without the bigger investment. PREPARE & PLANYour potential clients won’t care what clothes size you are. A few months back I had the pleasure of work with Smyle Creative Limited capturing photos as part of a campaign for Dexcom.

It was a super early start (3am!) for a 6am call time at Mercea Island. We spent the day with Jharna learning how she uses Dexcom products to manage her type 1 diabetes.

Jharna is a passionate (and brilliant) open water swimmer, so this is where the day began. Impressive given the chilly temperature on the day!

The campaign involved video footage, drone footage, interviews and photography (my job was the photography!) to share Jharna’s story.

It was a really fun day and wonderful to meet and work with Jharna and the team at Dexcom and Smyle. Here are a few of my images from the day.

Time to chat about brand photos and the ways you can work with me for branding shoots.

I have three packages you can choose from:

1. ESSENTIAL SESSION
Perfect as a mini shoot to kick start your business photography or to freshen up your brand imagery for a seasonal update.

WHATS INCLUDED
• 1 hour photoshoot at one location
• Minimum 30 images
• Pre shoot planning call
• Posing guidance on the day
• Photos delivered via an online gallery ready to download & use

2. EXTENDED BRAND SESSION
The Extended Brand Session is an option that gives more time to create a wider variety of images for you to use. In this half day session we have time to include a couple of different locations and outfit changes.

We will capture relaxed portraits, story telling content and behind the scenes shots. We will also have time to create a small selection of film clips for your socials.

WHATS INCLUDED
• 3 hour photoshoot
• Minimum 100 images
• Pre shoot planning call
• Guidance on styling & location, including location search if needed
• The option to add professional hair & make up to the session (additional fee for this service)
• Posing guidance on the day
• Photos delivered via an online gallery ready to download & use

3. ANNUAL BRAND SESSION
The Annual Brand Sessions ensure you have a wide range of amazing images to connect with your clients throughout the year. Each session will include a variety of portraits, lifestyle and behind the scenes shots to best show you and your business. We will also have time to create a small selection of film clips for your socials.

With each shoot we will plan what you have coming up in the next quarter and create a selection of images to best support your business plans and marketing.

• 4 x 2 hour photoshoots taken throughout the year
• Minimum 75 images per shoot
• Pre shoot planning call
• Guidance on styling & location, including location search if needed

Doing photography for small businesses often includes capturing multiple aspects of a business. From brand portraits, to lifestyle product imagery as well as behind the scenes and more.

Getting to know the businesses I work with and the people behind the business is key to capturing the right photography. Photos that will elevate the brand, connect with customers and clients and help the business to stand out.

One business owner I have worked with for a number of years is Nikki Stark. Nikki is an amazing jeweller. Her work is simple and elegant and she works with recycled materials where she can.

I love photographing Nikki's jewellery, which includes still life and model shots. We have also done some behind the scenes photography to show a little of the process involved in the designs Nikki creates.

Rooh London is a small, family-run business offering sustainable fashion and homewares. Smriti is originally from New Delhi and wanted to share the colour, spirit and beautiful artisan products of her Indian heritage. All the pieces are made by skilled artisans using block printing and hand finishing. The fabrics are beautiful, the colours are vibrant and the products are simply fabulous.

I love the ethos behind the business as well as the products Smriti curates and really enjoy working with her to photograph her gorgeous products.

Lifestyle product photography is something I love doing, and having the opportunity to plan and work on these shoots is such a pleasure.
