This summer in the UK has been especially warm and dry, so we planned our visit to the park for 9:30am, when the light was soft, the air was cooler, and there were hardly any tourists around.

We walked through the park, chatting, catching up, and taking photos along the way.

It felt especially meaningful because the first time I photographed her, she was expecting her first baby. Now, her little one is already 9 months old, while our own little one is 6 months old, and I’m expecting my second baby.

Watching children grow makes you realise just how quickly time passes. It feels like only yesterday we were talking about pregnancy, and now we’re chasing after little ones together.

These moments are such a beautiful reminder to slow down and capture them while they’re here.

I met Maria Maria Mourgue-Aliaj | Interior art at the library, where our children quickly got into a playful mood together. As they played, we naturally struck up a conversation. I soon discovered that, like me, she was balancing the joys and challenges of raising two children while pursuing her own small business. From then on, we often found ourselves crossing paths at the library.

Eventually, Maria asked if I could take some photographs for her business. On the day of the shoot, however, her little one had just had a vaccination and was feeling unsettled. As soon as the tears started, we paused the session to give her child the comfort and reassurance they needed. Once everyone was feeling calm again, we carried on and created a collection of portraits of Maria and her work that beautifully reflected her passion and dedication.
