Hi there…

I am a thirty something year old born & bred East Londoner. I have a real eye for detail & equally have a wild wacky fun side. The quirky & unusual is constantly catching my imagination and I’m always seeking inspiration from everything and anything – where ever I go, my camera will go. I have a real panache and am better known for my fashion, beauty & product photography but likewise

love capturing images of people right from newborn and toddlers to weddings and corporate events – Street photography is a genre I love too. I hope you have and will enjoy browsing the contents of my page & website (www.jasdipsagu.com) and conjuring up your own stories that the images may tell. Below is a bit more about me, all of which has played some part in making me the diverse & dynamic photographer I am today. First things first, I was born in 1982 in Barking Hospital, Essex and have always lived in the area barring the four years I studied Information Systems Multimedia Design at Kingston University, Surrey – oh how I miss the care free party days!! I am a Punjabi Sikh, born to parents who have roots in the Punjab in India although my mother was born in Uganda. I am the eldest of three and have two younger sisters – the youngest is studying to be a fashion stylist and we very often collaborate on shoots together. It’s only myself and her who seem to have an artistic streak in the family! I have always been a creative person excelling in Art and Graphics throughout my school years. I used to love using watercolours & oil based paints, and very often used to create ceramic ornaments out of clay. The human body form has also always intrigued me. After graduating I fell into an IT related job with BT and it wasn’t until 2008 that I picked up my first DSLR camera. I would regularly attend family events & weddings and continuously be taking pictures. One day I randomly decided to share them on social media sites and the next thing I knew people had started to like & comment on my work – this made me think “hmm – I love taking pictures and people obviously enjoy viewing them so perhaps I should give some thought to doing this professionally”. A few months later I went travelling to Japan and one day happened to randomly capture a picture of an elderly gentleman with an eccentric looking hat and goldfish bowls for earrings who was standing across the road from me and that’s when I thought to myself “Why not approach him and get him to pose for a proper picture”. I was in Japan for a further 2 weeks and I spent the majority of that time not only soaking up and absorbing the culture & scenery but also taking photographs of everything I saw right from the rickshaw driver who would be waiting outside my hotel every morning to photos of the boat that would take locals and tourists to the popular ‘Shrine Island’. Upon my return to London, I uploaded my images onto my page and again I received numerous ‘likes’ & an array of positive comments. This is what prompted me to start getting more serious about Photography and I began to take portraits of people. I knew several people in the Fashion Industry and started to tag along to Fashion photoshoots with them and posed as a second photographer. By attending the shoots I began to feel my excitement & passion grow and organized my own fashion photoshoot concepts. Not only was I taking the images but also I organised the mood boards, locations, models, hair & makeup artists as well as even styling the models! I really enjoyed this as it got my creative juices flowing and I just loved the passion & excitement I felt when doing this. In 2009 I was finally able to set up my own photographer business and since then I have not looked back. Other than attending a short course in Fashion & Editorial Photography at The London College of Contemporary Arts in 2014 I am totally self-taught and this is something I am incredibly proud of. I have a real passion & flare for photography and I believe this is something that shows in my images. I hope you have enjoyed learning a little about my journey and how I have got to where I am today . I look forward to hearing from you and working with you soon!
