Looking ahead to a new shoot next week with the team at Y/N Studio - thought we’d share some images from one of our last project shoots with them from last year.

Tile House, Hackney, London (UK)

[Y/N] Studio was asked to consider how to extend and improve a traditional Victorian terraced family house in Hackney. The project explores how a contemporary rooftop extension can sit comfortably within its historic context while improving the environmental performance of the home through the considered use of natural, renewable and recycled materials.

Bulls Barn, near the village of Ditchling, in the South Downs National Park (Sussex, UK) _ for Selencky Parsons / _ 📸 Summer 2025

Bulls Barn is a large new build house that responds to its beautiful rural setting to maximise views and access to natural light. The house is arranged into 3 distinct volumes, each consisting of a red clay tile upper level that rests on a series of carved flint stone bases. These volumes are linked by lightweight glazed connections that emphasise the key circulation routes of the house.

The materials combine to create a contemporary house that is inspired by the local rural vernacular.
