🍫 Brigadeiro: Brazil’s Beloved Sweet Treat! 🇧🇷

If you’ve ever been to a Brazilian party, you’ve definitely tasted brigadeiro – the irresistible chocolatey balls rolled in sprinkles. These little bites of heaven are a staple in our celebrations, and we even have Brigadeiro Day on 10th September to honour them! 🎉

But did you know brigadeiro was invented in the 1940s during a presidential campaign? It was originally made to raise funds for Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes’ campaign, and it became an instant hit! With a simple combo of condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter, brigadeiro has been a sweet part of our culture ever since.

Want to make your own brigadeiros at home? Here’s the recipe! 👇

Classic Brigadeiro Recipe
✨ Ingredients:

395g (1can) condensed milk
30g cacao powder
15g unsalted butter
A pinch of salt
Chocolate sprinkles for rolling

Method:

Mix condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter and salt in a pan.
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and pulls away from the bottom (about 10-15 minutes).
Let it cool, then butter your hands and shape it into small balls.
Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles, and voilà! 🎉

Serve them up at your next party or just treat yourself – you deserve it! 🍬✨

After a while, I’m getting back to the kitchen/ studio. We recently moved to Valencia, Spain. I’m taking this opportunity to change a little my focus to study about the history of food from Brazil and share what I’m learning to my social media accounts.
This is a plate of moqueca, a fish and prawn stew, similar to a curry. One of the most iconic dishes in Brazilian cuisine, renowned for its rich flavours, vibrant colours, and Afro-Brazilian roots. Served with white rice and farofa (toasted cassava flour).

It came out looking fantastic. And the flavours were spot on, just the right amount of sweetness. Now, my goal is to share it with my neighbours :)

I frequently assist Kimberly Kimberly / Food Photographer] on Tofuture shootings. We’ve been cooking and photographing their website recipes through the time. Since we started this project, I learned so much about vegan food and cooking with tofu. It has been a great opportunity to work with other assistants in the kitchen, as well as helping Kimberly compose fantastic imagery for her client.

I love cooking on Christmas. But I must confess I’m not so keen on sticking to traditions. Sometimes I feel it’s too much work and too much food. I always tend to simplify the dinner. Just one fancy main dish and one side, very elegant and special! But the tradition will be still on with a beautiful cake as a showstopper dessert. I picked Black Forest because it’s beautiful, matches the festivity vibes and I love its flavours.
Are you innovative or traditional about Christmas?

For me, the best way to tackle this cold and dark winter weather is having a bowl of soup. I instantly feel comfortable and warm having a ramen, chicken dumpling soup, minestrone or any other kind of soup. It just give me the strength to keep on moving through the day.
What do you do to keep your energy up during winter days? Tell me in the comments!
