Digging through my archives, I found these shots from Red Desert Dance Ensemble’s 'Moving Scenes' at Wandsworth Arts Fringe.

There’s something really captivating about watching and photographing dancers as they move together, trusting each other and connecting in the moment.

The Merton Best Business Awards always bring so much energy and as the official photographer for Merton Chamber of Commerce, it was a real pleasure to be there to capture the evening at the glorious New Wimbledon Theatre.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists – your hard work, creativity and dedication really shone on stage. It’s such a joy to see local businesses celebrated in this way.

This community really knows how to lift each other up.

Here are some of my favourite moments.

The brilliant got in touch recently, inviting me to photograph a development workshop for a new play by , with music from Conrad Murray (AKA ). It was such a treat to get a glimpse behind the scenes at the early stages of a production.

The room had this incredible energy - actors, the writer and creative team sat around a table bouncing ideas off each other as they read through the script. I found myself completely caught up in the characters and their stories.

Another example of where the silent shutter of a mirrorless camera comes in handy so I could catch those little moments without breaking the flow.

I’ve loved every single production I’ve seen from Attic Theatre so far, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how this one evolves.

They don’t call it Glorious Goodwood for nothing. A day full of style, spectacle and seriously good people-watching at the Qatar Goodwood Festival at the weekend, plus a few four-legged subjects I’m not usually used to photographing!

I’m back photographing the Wandsworth Arts Fringe this week – and from a photographer’s perspective, it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted.

These shows don’t often happen in traditional performance spaces. They pop up in cafés, pubs, libraries, community halls, recreation grounds and town squares - wherever there’s room (and sometimes where there isn’t). These venues weren’t built for performances, let alone photography, so you’re constantly working with what you’ve got. That might be full sunlight, a single spotlight, torches or a string of fairy lights taped to the ceiling.

And the performances? No shot lists, and barely a hint of what’s coming next. You have to stay sharp, react fast, anticipate the unexpected, think on your feet, move silently and be ready for anything – all while keeping out of the audience’s way (if there even is a clear boundary between performer and spectator). Some shows are immersive, so you’re right in the thick of it, dodging dialogue and ducking props.

(You see what I mean about not being for the faint-hearted?)

It’s raw, unpredictable, intense and bursting with creativity – and that’s exactly what makes fringe shows so exciting to shoot. You’re there to capture the spark, the split-second moments that make each show completely unique. No retakes, no safety net – just live performance in all its unfiltered glory.

News just in…Year 6 pupils’ dreams are more creative than you might expect!

Every year, I get to photograph of the Year 6 pupils at a Wimbledon primary school for their leavers’ yearbook.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” is a question I ask for their blackboard portraits and their answers never fail to inspire - from astronauts and surgeons to footballers and coders.

But what really stood out this year? So many kids dreaming of creative careers - artists, actors, fashion designers, a scriptwriter and a photographer (🙌). It’s a beautiful reminder of how much young people value expression, imagination and making things that move people.

Here’s to the next generation of creatives, and to the families and teachers nurturing those dreams.

Think back to your 11 year old self...what did you dream of being when you grew up?? Drop your answer below! 👇

I was recently invited by Business Clan to contribute to a blog about getting the most out of your brand photoshoot, alongside the brilliant Robyn Harper and Shelly Waldman.

Whether you're updating your website, launching something new, or just want to feel more confident showing up online, it’s worth a read.

In this content-saturated world, your photos are not just photos, but rather core assets that embody your brand across your marketing touchpoints.

I'm really glad I made time to see Mortal and Strong's Scars of Gold portrait exhibition - a powerful and moving collection of stories told through art.

The exhibition is part of a major health campaign shining a vital light on the inequalities women face when living with life-changing or incurable conditions from a young age. Through photography, art, film, podcasts and talks, the campaign brings over 150 different health conditions into public view - with honesty, vulnerability and real strength.

It was great to meet the team behind the project, Dr Liz Murray and photographer Sammy Weston, and hear more about how this inspiring project came together. 100 women...200 works of art...and a much-needed space for awareness, reflection and conversation.

The portraits are striking - bold, tender and deeply human. I was especially pleased to see the brilliant Roxy Murray amongst them.

This project is a stark reminder that photography does more than just capture moments - it can spark action and get important conversations started.

Scars of Gold, The Sidings, Waterloo until 17 May.

Composition isn’t just about the subject - it’s about how everything sits within the frame.

One key element I often use, especially in promotional and editorial portraits, is negative space: the empty areas around the subject. It draws attention, creates balance, and gives room for things like magazine titles, text and logos without crowding the image.

When shooting for magazine covers, posters, websites or tour promos, understanding where and how the photos will be used is crucial. That’s why I always consider negative space in my shoots - even if the client hasn’t considered it yet!

If you need images that are flexible, impactful and ready for anything, let’s have a chat.

My Creative Portrait shoots are perfect for when you want more than just a headshot - portraits that capture your personality, your style and a bit more depth. Whether you need images for your acting portfolio, personal branding, or simply to mark a special moment, these sessions are designed to be relaxed, collaborative, and fully tailored to you.

The goal is to create a calm, open space where you can truly be yourself with no pressure to perform or pose in a specific way. With these shoots, it’s not about giving a traditional smile to the camera. The strongest images often come from quieter moments: a subtle shift in posture, a glance away, or a thoughtful pause. I offer gentle direction, just small, natural adjustments that make a real difference…but nothing ever feels forced or overly posed. It’s a collaboration, not a performance, and the energy we create together shapes the mood and flow of the shoot.

Rather than stiff poses, I encourage natural movement - a little walking, a change in posture - so the photos feel genuine and effortless. It’s often in those unplanned, spontaneous moments that the most powerful images emerge. Every shoot is guided with care, because when you’re relaxed, you’re at your best - and that’s when the magic happens.

If you’re ready for portraits that are natural, authentic and effortless, you’re in the right place.
