For years, I did exactly what so many actors do.

I worked hard.

I hoped.

I trusted that if I was good enough, opportunities would come. And, yes some did. But I didnt know how to keep it going.

There's nothing wrong with having a great agent. A good agent can make a huge difference.

But they can't build your strategy for you.

They can only work with the materials, positioning and clarity you give them.

If your headshots, Spotlight profile and reels aren't telling a clear story, even the best representation has a harder job.

This isn't about blame.

It's about taking ownership of the parts of your career you can control.

So here's my question...

Do you actually have a strategy... or are you hoping someone else has one for you?

SAME ACTOR. SIX DIFFERENT CASTING STORIES.

This is what I mean when I say your headshots need to do a job.

Sukie hasn't suddenly become six different people.

But each image gives casting a completely different idea.

Day-to-day soap.
Zombie apocalypse.
Psychological drama.
Gothic horror.
Family comedy.
Buzzy sitcom.

And importantly — you can still see Sukie in every single one.

That's the bit actors sometimes get wrong.

Range doesn't mean dressing up as six different characters and hoping casting appreciates the effort. 😂

It means understanding the different places you can believably sit in the industry — and giving casting clear visual routes into them.

Same actor.
Different possibilities.
No confusion.

Stop building your career for the industry that existed 20 years ago.
Build it for the one you're actually in.

Because once you stop thinking like "just an actor" and start thinking like the owner of your own business, everything changes.

You start asking better questions.

Is my positioning clear?

Am I solving casting's problem?

Do all my materials work together?

Am I making it easy for people to cast me?

Talent matters.

But in a profession where thousands of talented actors are competing for the same opportunities, strategy matters too.

Getting new headshots is not a strategy.

Before you spend the money, ask yourself what problem the new images are actually supposed to solve.

Maybe your casting has shifted.

Maybe there’s an obvious gap in your current set.

Maybe you’re getting called in for one thing, but your headshots are still selling something completely different.

Or maybe your photographs are simply old.

But “I need new headshots” isn’t enough.

Go into a shoot knowing what you need to come out with.

Otherwise you risk spending a lot of money changing the photographs without changing the result.
