Meet Gia from India! 👋 Gia is currently a senior at Simmons University studying Computer Science with a minor in Physics. Reflecting on her journey as an international student at Simmons University she shares:
"I chose Simmons because it’s a smaller university, which means you can build really strong connections with your professors. As a STEM student, I found there were so many great opportunities available, and I also loved that Simmons is women-centered, which creates a really supportive environment.
One of my favorite things about Simmons is the location. It’s right in the heart of Boston, close to Harvard Med, Northeastern, and just minutes from Fenway Park. You’re truly in the center of the city, which makes the experience even more exciting.
When I first moved to the U.S., it definitely took some time to adjust. Like many international students, I was figuring out dorm life, a new environment, and trying to find people I could relate to. After a couple of months, I found an amazing community through the 3+2 engineering program. A lot of the students were international too, from places like Vietnam, Taiwan, and Singapore, so we really connected through our shared experiences of moving to a new country and university.
I would recommend Simmons to students interested in STEM, nursing, or liberal arts. The nursing program is especially well known in Boston, and the STEM professors are incredibly supportive and always encourage you to explore new opportunities.
Simmons has also really helped prepare me for my future. My academic advisor, Amber, helped guide me through choosing programs and applying to graduate schools. She encouraged me to look at schools in Boston, and I ended up getting into a couple!
Simmons also really pushes students to gain internship experience, which has been so valuable for preparing for my career."
If you’re looking for a supportive university experience in the heart of Boston with strong STEM opportunities and a close-knit community, Simmons could be the perfect fit for you.💙✨
