It has been five years since the release of the "Black Tulips" project. The project draws inspiration from the timeless paintings of Rembrandt and the great painters of the Dutch Golden Age. My intention was to blur the boundaries between photography and painting, paying homage to the artistry of the Dutch Old Masters while infusing it with a contemporary twist.
In nature, black tulips possess a dark, rich colour that is incredibly rare. While true black tulips do not exist, there are varieties known as "black" tulips that appear extremely dark, often with deep shades of purple, maroon, or dark burgundy. The quest for truly black tulips has captivated gardeners and tulip enthusiasts for centuries.
Black tulips, with their dark and enigmatic appearance, can be seen as a representation of desires or passions that are not openly expressed or easily understood by others. They embody the notion of something concealed or hidden beneath the surface, waiting to be discovered or revealed. I would like to invite you to explore the secrets and passions concealed in these photographs.
