Wayne Crichlow Photography Founder of Chasing The Light Media Ltd | Documentary & commercial photographer capturing culture, community & story. Hardly seen. Always noticed.

Sky Arts Master of Photography finalist & Sony World Photography Awards commended. Photography – “the art or practice of taking and processing photographs” In its literal sense this may seem simple but we all know as fellow photographers this is but a small element of a highly expressive art form. To capture an image is to capture the very essence of life itself and of that moment in time that can

never be repeated. Light is the single most important ingredient of photography. It is always changing, flattering and sometimes unforgiving. It demands patience and understanding and never to be rushed or hurried. My name is Wayne Crichlow, I am a British born photographer and visual story teller living in the suburbs of the great city of London. I started out my passion of photography with a very modest bridge camera and no real expectations of doing anything more serious than a few family snaps. I was that guy who always seemed to have a camera in his hand almost everywhere be it weddings, birthdays, day trips and holidays. I was never photographing in an official capacity but I was clearly intrigued by the creative freedom and dear I say it power that you have from behind the lens. Strangely enough or not some may say I am far more comfortable taking the picture than actually being in them myself! Most of us go through the same genesis of becoming a photographer. Snapping just about anything anywhere and anytime. Experimenting with composition and getting savvy with the latest kit and editing software etc. Subject matters become so varied that it takes a while to understand your direction and unique style. Vivian Maier, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Martin Parr, Mary Ellen Mark, Mark Asnin, Zack Arias are but a few of inspirational photographers that have opened my eyes to the genera that is Street Photography. I enjoy getting up early or going out late to London observing life as it swirls around me. I wait and I watch not intervening but objectively recoding a scene. My composition begins in my mind as I watch. I am thinking how I can capture this image in a way that whoever looks at the final image can feel like they are there but can also build their own narrative. “Where is he going?”, “what is at the end of that tunnel?” , “what is she thinking?”

The situations in the images that I have captured provide an insight into our dynamic surroundings. Always moving, always changing and
always honest. This is the world as I see it through the lens of my camera. "Capture every moment as if it were your last"-Wayne Crichlow

It’s been a long while since I last posted on Facebook.

Since leaving my corporate life at Kyndryl at the end of last year, I’ve been quietly working away on building the next chapter of my creative journey.
Photography has always been more than just taking pictures for me. It’s about storytelling, documenting people, culture and moments that matter. Many of you started following my work during my time on Master of Photography back in 2018, and I’m genuinely grateful for all the support that has continued since then.

One of the biggest projects I’ve been working on is a new photography book called Carnival of Resistance, which I’m co-authoring alongside fellow visual storyteller Wayne Campbell.
Over the past 15 years we’ve both documented different sides of Notting Hill Carnival — the music, the energy, the creativity, the community and the spirit that makes Carnival what it is.

As Carnival approaches its 60th anniversary, this project feels incredibly important to us. The book isn’t meant to be a full history lesson, but more a reflection of lived experience through photography — celebrating both the joy and the deeper roots of resistance and resilience that helped shape Carnival in London.

Pre-orders are now open and I’d genuinely appreciate any support in helping us bring this project to life.

We are in interesting times.

Photographer Wayne Crichlow documents the 14 Sept 2025 London clash between anti-fascist protesters and the nationalist “Unite the Kingdom” march. This powerful photo series captures resistance, nationalism, and the questions of who is silenced and who is protected in today’s Britain.

"Faith" - Granada, España 2025

This year, I witnessed Granada's Semana Santa after some six years or so not being in the city at what is a sacred period for Christians. I think that this year had reached unprecedented heights, with record-breaking crowds lining expanded routes, reflecting a deeply rooted devotion. The El Silencio procession, commencing at midnight on Maundy Thursday, enveloped the city in profound solemnity. As streetlights dimmed and silence prevailed, the only sounds were the measured drumbeats and the soft steps of hooded penitents. Candlelight flickered against ancient walls, creating an atmosphere of haunting reverence that left a sense of sadness. This year's Holy Week was hailed as the most successful in recent memory, marking a significant cultural milestone for Granada.

I could not have found a more magical city than Granada which is my second home, to be emersed in the site's and sounds of this religious festival.
