Golden Oldies 🎬

A little trip back through the archives.

Here’s a selection of portraits from clients I photographed more than a few years ago. Looking back through these images reminds me how much my photography has evolved over the last seven-plus years in my studio.

I have a lot more strings to my bow now. I understand light on a much deeper level and have spent years refining how I shape and craft it to create the look I’m after.

But despite all of that, my favourite setup is still the simplest one: natural light.

Some things change, some things don’t.

These are a few of my favourite portraits from years gone by. Huge thanks to all of the brilliant clients who trusted me in front of the camera over the years.

Maxwell 🎩

There’s nowhere quite like Soho.

I met Maxwell wandering through the back streets one Saturday afternoon, impeccably dressed. When I asked why he was looking so dapper, he simply smiled and said, “I’m just off for some lunch.”

It’s those unexpected encounters that keep drawing me back. Soho is full of characters, and I always seem to gravitate there with a camera in hand, hoping for moments like this.

Shot on 35mm film with my Leica MP.

Eti & Choo 🖤

A few weeks ago, I spotted Eti and Choo near Oxford Circus while wandering around London with my Leica and a roll of film.

Sometimes you see people on the street and you just know you have to ask for a portrait. The style, the confidence, the presence — it all comes together in a way that’s impossible to ignore.

Thankfully, they were kind enough to stop for a couple of minutes and indulge a photographer.

A few frames later, these were the results.

London never disappoints.

Soho George 🎩

I first photographed George around three years ago, and I’m still amazed by his style every time I see him.

He’s one of Soho’s true old souls. Instantly recognisable, effortlessly elegant, and without question one of the most dapper people walking the streets of London.

A few weeks ago I bumped into him near Charing Cross while I had my film camera with me. I stopped, bought him a coffee, we had a chat, and I asked if I could make a few portraits.

Here are the results.

Andy 📸

A little while ago, my studio buzzer went unexpectedly.

Standing outside was Andy, a budding photographer who had found my work online and wanted some advice on how to get started.

No appointment. No email.

He’d simply turned up and asked if I’d mind sharing a few tips.

I thought that took a huge amount of courage, so I buzzed him up.

We spent an hour chatting about photography, lighting, headshots, camera settings, working with people, and some of the lessons I’ve learned over the years. Along the way, we also took a few headshots of Andy himself.

As you’ll see from the photos, Rothko was keen to get involved too 🐈

Photography has given me a career, incredible experiences, and introduced me to some wonderful people. If I can occasionally help someone at the start of their journey, it feels like time well spent.

Good luck, Andy. I look forward to seeing where photography takes you.

A Day of Headshots with .in.actors 🎭📸

Recently spent the day photographing headshots for the actors at All In Actors in London.

One thing I always try to focus on with actor headshots is keeping things honest and relaxed. I’m not interested in forcing “character” or over-stylising people — the goal is simply to create images that feel like the real person in front of the camera.

Often the strongest shots happen in the quieter moments in between poses, when someone settles into themselves and stops thinking about having their photo taken.

A really enjoyable day full of good conversations, great energy, and lots of strong new headshots created ✨

Stella ✨

Great to have Stella back in the studio recently.

She’s currently applying to modelling agencies and wanted something a little more than a standard headshot — keeping things simple, minimal makeup, and focused on her authentic self.

We shot using natural light, keeping everything relaxed and honest.

These are the results.

David 🎬

Great to have a returning client, David, back in the studio yesterday.

Selects were uploaded just a couple of hours after the shoot, made his choices, and the final edits were turned around within 24 hours.

Quick, simple, and efficient headshots — ideal if you need something sorted without the wait.
