PHOTO SERIES: Summer Solstice, Lowestoft 2026

It had been a while since I’d celebrated the summer solstice with my family. This year, we headed to Lowestoft, the most easterly town in the UK and went to First Light Festival, where the country’s first midsummer sunrise is celebrated on the beach.

We wild camped on the beach together too, something I grew up doing a lot with my family but hadn’t done in a while. At 4am, everyone gathered for yoga, listened to atmospheric music and watched the sun come up, then ran into the sea.

Such a lovely way to start the longest day.

Now that’s how you drink wine. 😂🍷

After 6 months sober, this lovely man decided the best way to welcome me to Malaga was by pouring wine directly into my mouth.

Unfortunately, between my terrible Spanish and his limited English, he couldn’t quite understand why I didn’t want any wine in the first place.

I know it technically doesn’t count… but if you’re going to accidentally drink wine, this is probably the way to do it.

In exchange, I gave him a little portrait on my camera.
