Richard Sutcliffe is an autistic artist whose condition significantly affects his learning, social interaction and communication skills. Despite these challenges, and although reading and writing can be difficult for Richard, he possesses extraordinary natural creative talents and has devoted many years to creating comics, cartoon strips and thousands of sequential drawings that bring his characters and stories to life. Matthew the Bat is one of many original characters created entirely from Richard's imagination.
