I’m working with the adoption charity .uk on a deeply personal series to commemorate the the centenary of the 1926 Adoption of Children Act.

The Adoption of Children Act 1926 was the landmark legislation that introduced legal adoption for the first time in England and Wales. It formalized the transfer of rights and responsibilities from birth parents to adopters, replacing unregulated, private arrangements. The act focused on child welfare, establishing legal security for children, including inheritance rights, while enabling single women and couples to formally adopt.

CORAM’s one request was to include myself in the series. Here is a glimpse of my adopted family home - my mum and dad - I am behind the camera of course.

There’s an another amusing one of dad reading where you can’t see him at all which is accurate - and my mother is always knitting - she has knitted ALOT of baby clothes for Ukraine.

The composition was inspired by ‘s wonderful recent commissioned portrait of and their children for collection (on display now).
