All vendors have a wide variety of fruits in their baskets: from tiny kumquat to majestic dragon fruit, sweet java apples beside stinky durian, hairy rambutan and sour starfruit; but not plain, simple bananas.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Only a few ladies sell bananas and only those.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nothing else.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Besides this, bananas are nowhere to be found in the city, not even in local shops or supermarkets.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To this day I still can't wrap my head around why, in Hanoi, there is an underground mafia that surrounds bananas.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just meters away the traffic clogs up the roads.
Motorbikes of all sorts and dimension swarm across the streets with rambling engines, honking their way through the chaotic maze which is Hanoi.
The flux of vehicles knows no direction nor rush hour, the perpetual movement of the city winds you up like a hurricane.
Step in.
The citrus smell welcomes you with a whim.
A few birds chirp to each other and in this eloquent Silence, everything is transfixed, only the light moves.
“This place soothes my soul” says the woman beside me while lighting up an incense stick.
I agree. Strolling into a sun-soaked stretch of grass I admire the students praying Confucius for good grades.
Time passed differently here.

Legend says that the island's fishermen were the first to paint their houses in bright colors, so they could see them while they were out fishing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The houses follow a special color pattern on the whole island, dating to the island's "golden age" when it was first becoming developed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here it is the village, an antique small world planted somewhere in Northern Italy, in a slice of fat and flat land, that lies between the Po river and the Apennines.
Dense, freezing fog oppresses it in winter, and a merciless sun furiously hammers people's heads during the summer.
Here everything is exasperated, here the political passions explode violently and the struggle is hard, but the men always remain gentlemen and some stories can happen here only, and anywhere else.
