Am I a Coach or a Photographer? (Or Both?)

Do I

* Hold a camera and press a button
* Photoshop it
* Deliver the photo to the client.

Or do I

* Support clients who feel awkward or anxious in front of a camera
* Help people get out of their heads and focus on why they do what they do. (Purpose!)
* Encourage business owners to present themselves more confidently on their website, social media, and their marketing materials.
* Create visuals that feel like them—not just generic stock images or the dreaded AI!

The more I reflect on how I approach networking and working with clients, the more I realise that a coaching mindset is central to everything I offer. Whether I’m shooting a headshot, crafting a promo video, or helping someone plan a visual rebrand, I believe it’s more than just pressing the shutter or recording.

Is “done better than perfect”?

I’ve seen several posts recently promoting the “ah, just get it out there” sentiment. And while I understand why they’re saying that (and you may disagree with me), I’m not a fan of the statement. 🤯

I don’t believe perfectionism is the villain it’s made out to be—especially when it comes to your visual content and your brand.

Your brand needs to be managed with a sense of purpose and a balance between "done" and unattainable perfection. Striving for excellence serves as a compass. It shows you care about your craft. Your brand and your first impression.

So next time someone tells you “done is better than perfect,”

smile politely,

and then strive for excellence and make something brilliant 🙏🏽💯
