Posted • LYNSEY FOX - S T Y L I S T] Today is Addisons Disease Day so I thought it appropriate to re-post my PICKLE ADDICTIONS images.

I created a colourful series of 4 images to explore my pickle addiction, caused by a rare condition called Addison’s Disease. I was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease in August 2019 - it’s a rare autoimmune condition in which my body no longer produces the essential hormones cortisone (helps your body deal with physical and mental stress) and aldosterone (helps regulate blood pressure and sodium levels).
• • •
For about a year before my diagnosis it was an ongoing joke amongst family and friends how much I loved pickles (especially salty, briny, Polish gherkins and hot pickled peppers). It’s also quite a normal thing for people with Addison’s to drink pickle juice too - it’s delicious!! The fact that it turned out to be caused by a medical condition was insane and a complete eye opener! My body was craving salty foods because it was not absorbing any sodium. I’m now on lifetime medication to ensure I can carry on as normal and to control my salty addictions!

I wanted to do this photoshoot for two reasons: 1. To help raise awareness for Addison’s disease as it is so rare that it is often missed and can be fatal if not diagnosed and 2. To visually show what pickles mean to me, based on a sickly sweet afternoon tea - I’ve never had a sweet tooth!!

I created a colourful series of 4 images to explore my pickle addiction, caused by a rare condition called Addison’s Disease which I was diagnosed with in August 2019. I wanted to show how I view pickled food based on a typical sickly sweet afternoon tea. Cakes and sweet foods do nothing for me, where as sour, briny or vinegary foods make me one happy lady!
• • •
Here’s an afternoon tea made of an array of pickles: gherkins, eggs, beetroot, radish, turnip, cocktail onions, lemons and teardrop peppers. Washed down with pink pickled turnip juice - and not forgetting pickled onions and radish ‘candies’ on the side!

I created a colourful series of 4 images to explore my pickle addiction, caused by a rare condition called Addison’s Disease. It’s a rare autoimmune condition which stops my body producing the essential hormones cortisone (helps your body deal with physical and mental stress) and aldosterone (helps regulate blood pressure and sodium levels).

This series shows how I view pickled food, based on typical sweet foods. I wanted to look at my relationship with salty foods and pickles and how these cravings can compare with people with a sweet tooth. I also wanted to do this photoshoot to help raise awareness for Addison’s disease as it is so rare that it is often missed and can be fatal if not diagnosed.

Yes, I made a pickle trifle, served with my fave pink pickled turnips.
