Finally, after 2 days of driving horizontal rain and a 50mph southwesterly, I was able to walk down to Hope Gap and Cuckmere Haven in time for the sunset.

Sabine Weiss I think has to be my absolute favourite photographer. Her commercial work is without parallel but her personal work, done in the afternoons and evenings on the streets of cities across the world, and in black and white, is just sublime. In contrast to the meticulously planned and glitz and glamour of her commercial work, photographing on the hoof the people she meets on the street she exhibits the same absolute mastery of composition but without sacrificing the humanity of her subjects. Her mastery of light is second to none and her use of blurred images is so refreshing to see in our highly edited super sharp world. Such a shame she didn't live to see the exhibition open. So totally inspired I am I have switched my camera settings to black and white to try and see the world through Sabine's lens.
