Father's day is fast approaching and I know so many of you have gorgeous personalised gifts for the men! Just like these beautiful handmade cushions from 😍👌🎉
✨️ Here are 5 tips for selling them online...
1. Show the gift in real life, not just on a plain background
Fathers shop emotionally too. Instead of only photographing the product on white, show it being used . A mug beside breakfast, skincare in a gym bag, tools in a workshop, or a personalised gift being opened. Lifestyle images help customers picture giving the gift to their dad.
2. Create “gift guide” style photos
Bundle products together visually to increase value and encourage larger purchases. Photograph items as ready-made gift sets with tags like “Perfect for golf dads”, “For the BBQ king” or “Last minute Father’s Day gift ideas.” This makes shopping easier and faster for customers scrolling online
3. Use people and hands
Images with human connection usually perform better on social media. A simple hand holding the product, someone wrapping a gift, or a child handing it to dad instantly makes the image feel warmer and more relatable. It stops products feeling too “catalogue”.
4. Photograph for vertical social media first
Most customers will see the products on their phone. Take some images vertically with space for text overlays so clients can add phrases like “Order before Sunday” or “Father’s Day Gift Guide.” Think Instagram Stories, Reels covers and Pinterest-friendly layouts.
5.Create urgency with seasonal messaging
Don’t just post a product photo , add purpose to it. Use captions and imagery that remind people Father’s Day is coming soon. Include packaging, gift wrapping, cards, delivery deadlines or “limited availability” messaging in the photos themselves. Seasonal urgency helps people stop scrolling and buy now rather than later.
Try these out and let me know how you get on.
Happy photography!
