Sometimes, going the extra mile means quite literally going the extra mile.
In this case, it was 58.9 miles.
We do quite a lot behind the scenes to ensure our customers’ equipment arrives on time, but we rarely shout about it. It’s just part of what we do.
But we thought we’d shout about this one.
Today, we had a modest 16 items being dispatched to 12 customers. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected (and incredibly unusual) issue, the courier didn’t collect them.
That would have meant nothing going out for delivery tomorrow.
That would have been bad.
Sometimes, you have to make decisions quickly — because the longer you spend thinking about it, the fewer options you have.
At around 5pm we came up with a plan.
Richie, who had just arrived home from the office, jumped back in the car and drove back to Maidenhead. We loaded up his boot, and he headed straight to the depot at Heathrow.
By the time he eventually got home again, he’d clocked up an extra 60 miles. And everyone could relax.
We could have sat back, accepted the situation and hoped for the best.
But that’s just not good enough for us.
We won’t sleep at night unless we know we’ve done everything possible to make sure our customers’ orders arrive on time.
