3 weeks ago I shot these portraits for James. In his youth he was on track to compete in the olympics as a power lifter, after a car accident his back was broken and his life was derailed onto a totally different path. He shared stories from his time spent finding himself, travelling and working in all kinds of jobs until he eventually landed on becoming a therapist to help people work through life changing events. Nowadays James spends his time supporting execs in Fortune 500 companies navigate the challenges of working in high stress positions and how to work successfully as a team to overcome challenges and come together.
At the end of our shoot he gave some great words of advice to live by that really struck a chord with me.
Coincidentally that evening my life changed forever. I don’t recognise who I’ve been over the past few years, in my work as a photographer or as a person but I’m figuring that out day by day and get to choose who I am from now on. I’ve started making a list of personal projects I want to work on but I also would love to meet up with like minded creatives to collaborate and connect, maybe even just a meet up at a nice coffee spot in Manchester.
