While his peers settle into Year 6 and prepare for their final year of primary school, our boy is marking his 12th week at home.
Academically, he meets and exceeds his targets. However, finding an educational environment that accommodates neurodivergent needs continues to be a process.
We are currently working through the EHCP stages and meetings to secure the proper provision he requires that won’t affect his education, because he is bright, he has strong potential.
In the meantime, our daily routine looks different right now: Adapting things to remove his worries and fears.
Balancing work rotas and daily care while navigating administrative timelines.
Channeling his incredible energy, curiosity, and non-stop conversation into practical projects.
He is vibrant, capable, and full of life.
Capturing moments like this reminds me that advocating for the right support is always worth the effort.
To every parent currently navigating the SEND process: you are not alone.
