Stockport Town Hall Wedding

I was excited to return to Stockport Town Hall for Nat & Dan’s gorgeous ceremony, especially as it meant finally getting a peek inside the Council Chamber, and it didn’t disappoint! Nat & Dan exchanged vows surrounded by their family and friends, with lovely readings and their son being their ringbearer. They celebrated with a few drinks inside the town hall before it was time to move outside for confetti. While their loved ones headed over to the pub, I took Nat & Dan round the corner for some portraits, using the brutalist architecture of the council offices as ur backdrop.

Hey! It’s been approximately 427 days since I shared an actual, up-to-date, not taken two years ago photo of myself. But I had a few photos taken of me on Tuesday, so behold, my face!
Anyway, if you’re new here, I’m Marni 🙋🏽‍♀️ It feels a little bit unbelievable, but this is my 10th year as a wedding photographer! That’s 10 years of taking joyful photographs unobtrusively. 10 years of capturing real moments and authentic emotions. Maybe I should do something to celebrate?

I’m currently really into pottery, and after nearly 2 years of learning, I can finally say I’m ok at it (I’m not being modest, I’ve only just started making nice things by intention rather than fluke). I’ve also recently started learning how to salsa, which is very fun, 10/10 would recommend! I’m also a big fan of cosy reading days, gossipy podcasts, walks in nature, swimming in large bodies of water, closing my eyes and lifting my face to unexpected sun on a wintery day, and enjoying the occasional spicy marg.

All this is to say that I’m a person, just like you (unless you’re a bot, in which case we are nothing alike), and if you’re planning a wedding day that’s all about celebrating your love and having a fun time with your favourite people, then, maybe, just maybe, I might just be the perfect photographer for you!

Hey! It’s been bloody ages and I’ve gained a new follower or two so now seems like a good time to reintroduce myself. I’m Marni, and I’m a big fan of cosy reading days, gossipy podcasts, walks in nature, doing pottery weekly (sometimes getting better, sometimes getting worse), swimming in large bodies of water, closing my eyes and lifting my face to unexpected sun on a wintery day, and enjoying the occasional spicy marg.
I also love love in all it’s different shapes, which is why I became a documentary style wedding photographer. What I care about when I’m at a wedding is photographing all those little expressions and gestures of love, from personal vows, to reassuring squeezes, helping hands, inside jokes and everything in between. And I do it as unobtrusively as I can.
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t care about wedding trends! I’m here for the couples that want to have the most ‘them’ day possible, a day that celebrates their love, the things they love and the love they have for their community.

Is it even summer in the uk if you don’t have at least 2 polar opposite types of weather multiple times throughout the same day? Kate & James definitely had one of those days but no matter what the weather was doing they still had fun and ultimately thats what it’s all about!

Sian & Darius at Manchester Hall, featuring rooftop views, personalised vows (which I’m seeing more of at registrar lead ceremonies and I’m loving!), musical speeches, and a surprise Elvis appearance!

A few of my favourite frames from Olivia & Jacob beautiful wedding at The Venue in Halifax. I originally met Olivia & Jacob photographing their friends wedding a couple of years ago, so I knew that with a similar guest list and an appearance from Back Chat Brass it was gonna be a very fun celebration! And it did not disappoint! 💃🏽💃🏽

A few previews from Hannah and Liddys beautiful wedding at Peak District Holiday Barn. Highlights include their dog being present, their friend leading the ceremony with lots of contributions from more of their loved ones, a ridiculous amount of confetti, a surprise appearance from the sun that lead to lawn games, an absolutely stunning backdrop for their couples portraits (10/10 thanks nature!) and of course a ton of joy and a whole lot of love 🧡

I’m not one to hand out wedding advice very often but if you’re planning a wedding and want to keep the energy high and make the whole day feel like one big party then one thing you should consider doing is booking a fun band for your drinks reception (between the ceremony and dinner).
That’s exactly what Ashlee & Christian did! After a lovely ceremony at Hackney Town Hall they brought all their family and friends over to The Londesborough (via bus) and surprised them with a Mariachi band that had them dancing until dinner time!

If you want a wedding photographer that going to capture all of the fun you have planned for your big day in a relaxed and natural way then get in touch. My books are open for 2026 and I’ve still got a few spots available this year.

Back in January I had the pleasure of photographing Lori & Sarah’s intimate wedding at Altrincham Town Hall, surrounded by their closest family and friends in front of beautiful stained glass windows.
The winter sun was in our favour and after being showered with confetti we had a stroll around Alty market for a few couples portraits.

Lori & Sarah booked me for 1.5hrs coverage which is just enough time to cover all the essentials; meaningful moments, couples portraits and family photos.

I loved so many things about Siobhan & Lakshnie’s wedding, from their gorgeous outfits with matching floral details, their incredible humanist ceremony with an instrument filled sing along, delicious food, and their fun filled silent disco, to getting to work with my lovely fellow crabs ♋️ for the first (and hopefully not the last) time. But what I loved most of all was how safe, loved and accepted Siobhan and Lakshnie made everyone feel. It was a joy to be part of their little bubble of love for the day!
