A Classic Celebration: Jenna & Nathan at Oaklands Hall

This summer is flying by! On the 6th of June, I documented Jenna and Nathan’s beautiful and heartfelt wedding at the historic Oaklands Hall Hotel in Hyde.

The day was a celebration of timeless elegance. Oaklands provided a fantastic, historic backdrop that perfectly complemented Jenna and Nathan's classic wedding styling, which featured a stunning cascade of pink and white roses. My goal was to capture all the joy and quiet grace of their traditional ceremony and reception.

What a fantastic day celebrating with Kirsty & Anthony as they tied the knot at Trafford Town Hall before continuing the celebrations at Davyhulme Park Golf Club.

From the moment they said "I do" to the laughter, hugs, and happy moments shared with family and friends throughout the day, it was a real privilege to capture their wedding story. These are the moments that make wedding photography so rewarding – genuine emotions, natural smiles, and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Just Married: Lucy & Adam

We could not have asked for a better day for Lucy and Adam’s wedding on the 22nd of May. They celebrated their marriage at Albert’s Standish, and it was a truly beautiful late spring day.

The sun was out all afternoon, providing the perfect warm backdrop for their celebrations. It was an absolute pleasure to blend into the background and capture all the laughter, the sunshine, and the genuine, unscripted moments between them and their guests. Albert’s looked fantastic, and the relaxed atmosphere made for some incredible documentary-style frames.

I am busy working on their full gallery at the moment, but I wanted to share a little sneak peek of the new Mr and Mrs Atherton.

Just Married: Chris & Rachel

What an incredible day this was. On the 16th of May, Chris and Rachel tied the knot, and it was an absolute joy to be there to capture it all.

The day started locally at St Clement's Church right here in Urmston for a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony. After they made it official, everyone headed into the city centre for a brilliant reception at the spectacular Albert Halls in Manchester. The architecture there is always stunning, but it looked even better filled with all their family, friends, and so much laughter.

From the quiet, emotional moments at the church to the lively celebrations in town, it was the perfect reflection of them as a couple: relaxed, genuine, and completely happy.

I am currently working through the full gallery, but I couldn't resist sharing a little sneak peek from their day.

Capturing Love in the Heart of Manchester: Chris & Rachel

There is something special about Manchester city centre. It has a brilliant mix of industrial grit, grand architecture, and quiet hidden corners, which makes it a fantastic backdrop for a pre-wedding shoot.

Earlier this month, I spent a great afternoon exploring the city with Chris and Rachel for their engagement session. We started out around the iconic ironwork and historic canals of Castlefield. It was great to just wander around and capture those relaxed, unscripted moments that happen when a couple is just enjoying being together.

From there, we headed over to the stunning arches near Albert Square, where the classic stone architecture framed their story perfectly.

Pre-wedding shoots are always a favourite of mine. There is no timeline and no rush. It is just a chance to hang out, get used to being in front of the lens, and capture some genuine, documentary-style moments before the wedding day itself.

The unspoken rule of wedding photography: If you want a perfectly controlled day, don't invite toddlers. 🧸👇

But if you want a day filled with unscripted joy, hilarious chaos, and genuine emotion? Kids are the absolute best guests you can have.

Couples always ask me: "What if they won’t stand still and smile?"

My answer: Please don't make them stand still.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I don’t want them to say "cheese." I want to capture them sprinting down the aisle the wrong way. I want to capture them stealing a handful of cake. I want to capture the spectacular mid-reception meltdown.

Because in 10 years, the photo of your nephew asleep under the top table is going to be the one you look at and laugh about the most.

My "No-Fuss" promise means I don’t direct, I don’t shout, and I definitely don't force kids to pose. I just let them be kids, and I document the magic that follows. ✨

The morning of your wedding shouldn't feel like a high-pressure magazine shoot. 🥂

If you’re worried about feeling awkward, rushed, or stressed before you even put your dress on... take a breath. As a documentary wedding photographer, I’ve been in hundreds of bridal prep rooms. I know exactly what creates a chaotic morning, and what makes it flow beautifully.

Here are my top 3 "No-Fuss" rules for a relaxed wedding morning:

✨ 1. Chase the Window Light: Don't worry about the background decor. Set your makeup chair near the biggest window. Natural light is your best friend (and your makeup artist will thank you).

✨ 2. The "One Box" Rule: Prep rooms get messy fast. Dedicate one corner, wardrobe, or large box for all the overnight bags, plastic wrappers, and clutter. It keeps the background of your photos clean without anyone having to tidy up constantly.

✨ 3. The "One Hour" Mark: Aim to be in your dress a full hour before you need to leave. Trust me. This gives you breathing room for a glass of fizz, a "first look" with your bridesmaids, and a moment to actually soak it in before the adrenaline hits.

There is no awkward posing required. Just put on a playlist, have a good breakfast, and let the morning happen.
