Taken on a family walk at Bracklinn falls, Scotland. I set a timer for 15 minutes, to capture some images before heading back to the car, but could have stayed for hours taking in this tiny world.

From first hearing talk, I’ve been fascinated by this other world that exists beneath our feet. I keep promising myself that I am going to carve out more time to learn more about this amazing, fundamental part of our day-to-day life.

Focusing my attention on a a single log, in secluded pocket of the woods, felt like an immersion into this world. The more I looked, the more i noticed. All on one decomposing log ( more images to follow).

After capturing images like this, there’s always a strong pull to complete the edit within the next few days. It’s so important to me that the image feels the way it felt when I stood behind the camera and pressed the shutter-release; and if I can get an image to that point, then I feel that the moment (the memories) are cast in stone. A visual keep-sake that will draw me back in years to come.

Every day spent out in Scotland’s landscape is a gift, but this one was particularly special, as I was joined by my Dad. As we waited for the light to soften, we were joined by four White-Tailed Eagles who soared above us until the sun had dipped below the horizon; a surreal and almost mystical experience.

When I walked the beach searching for a composition, seaweed marked the spot in such an obvious way, that it made me feel that nature was truly on my side.

Shot last week at Talisker Bay, Isle of Skye.

Another image from my Glen Etive series, which has quickly become very special to me.

When I first started out as a commercial photographer, I was fortunate enough to meet - an amazing advertising photographer, who I’m fortunate to now call a friend. He’s provided many insights over the years, but there’s something that he said to me on the day that I met him that has always stuck in my mind : ‘don’t shoot anything you don’t want to shoot!’

With the photography market changing so much, we don’t always have that luxury - but we do have the luxury of shooting personal projects to keep the passion for the craft alive; this series is exactly that. A big bellows to stoke the flames.

I love getting lost in Glencoe’s magic. Where’s somewhere that means the same to you?

I honestly think that this might be the best landscape image that I’ve ever shot. It was taken during the week, in Glen Etive and comprises of eight images, each exposed at roughly two minutes. There’s something so perfect about shooting long-exposures in this landscape - being forced to stand still and just ‘be’ seems like something that should be prescribed!
I spent most of the day in the same are, met some great people, did some swimming and cliff jumping and just felt…content ( such an underrated feeling, I think).
I feel it’s almost criminal posting this on instagram on such a tiny square, so please do follow the link in my bio when you’re behind a computer screen and visit the ‘Lifestyle Advertising’ section of my website ( I’ve published the image at the bottom of the page.
I’d love to create an exhibition with all of my landscape work, but in the meantime, once the test prints are down, this will be added to my shop.

Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I shot this with and . We spent ages together and had such a good laugh.
Couldn’t resist the Pokémon theme tune.
The type of work that im shooting professionally has shifted slightly ( more lifestyle advertising ) but I’d love to shoot more portraits this year.
