Woke early and to my surprise there was thick fog all around so quickly headed over to Birnam Hill to shoot some of the ancient woodland toward the top of the hill. Unfortunately as I climbed higher the fog quickly burnt back and was left basking in glorious sunshine with a cloud inversion all the way along the Tay valley.

This shot was taken on the ascent just before I climbed through the fog layer. Taken with my Leica Q2.

Today I really discovered that I much prefer agile photography with the little Q2. I had hauled my Nikon Z system and tripod up the hill but it mostly stayed in the bag. I'm just no longer that kind of photographer.

Wow!!! The Rothiemurchus Estate in the Cairngorms National Park is heaven for woodland photographers. So much to explore and photograph. So many photogenic trees and landscapes.

Natural Chaos.
Actually taken from the back garden of our rental cottage. The garden was level with the tops of the trees, on the side of an elevated river bank. I just liked the moss and the green and bronze colours.

Lovely walk to Ryvoan Bothy through the Glenmore forest. A truly inspiring location with amazing ancient Scots pine trees. Definitely want to spend some proper time there in different conditions.
