Let’s Talk About Newborn & Sibling Photos…
Newborn & sibling photos are some of the most rewarding (and often challenging) images to capture because, well… toddlers 😅
Toddlers have short attention spans, so timing is everything. The key is to capture those special moments while they’re still engaged and interested in what’s happening. For some little ones, coming into the studio can feel a bit overwhelming, and that’s completely normal.
Depending on the age and personality of the sibling, I like to try a few different setups. Sometimes baby and sibling will lie together on a cozy rug, while other times baby may be safely settled in a prop with their big brother or sister sitting beside them. If a sibling isn’t comfortable holding the baby, that’s perfectly okay too. Often, a parent will hold the newborn while the sibling interacts naturally, looking at their new baby, sharing a quick kiss or flashing a sweet smile. Those moments can happen in an instant, so being ready to capture them is essential!
Every session is unique, and the images I create are always guided by the child’s comfort level and cooperation. The goal is never perfection, it’s preserving a genuine connection.
These photographs capture the very beginning of a lifelong bond, preserving emotions and memories that words alone cannot express. Whether you’re welcoming your second, third or fourth child, sibling photos are a beautiful way to document those precious snuggles, sweet smiles, and unforgettable first moments together.
Sibling photos are included in all newborn shoot packages at no extra charge.
