As someone managing Ankylosing Spondylitis, long mountain treks aren’t always an option for me. But mornings like this prove that with a bit of local knowledge, you can capture the magic of a Welsh sunrise completely from the roadside.

Check out my new YouTube video where I try and capture the beauty of Llangorse Lake at sunrise ☀️

..Well, assuming a massive bull doesn’t block your path to the lake. 🐂😅

Be honest: do you actively chase wildlife, or do you sit and wait for it?

After a meltingly hot day walking around Kenfig Nature Reserve, I gave up the chase and just rested in the shade for an hour. That’s when this little Willow Warbler decided to show up, jumping around the branches right above me with its lunch. It just goes to show that sometimes the best strategy is to let nature come to you.

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend everyone! Hope all the festival goers have a brilliant time, just remember to take your rubbish home with you 👍

I’m currently deep into reorganising my Lightroom catalog and haven’t had a chance to edit anything new, so here’s one of my favourite images from the past:

📍Whiteford Lighthouse.

Definitely one of those shots where everything had to come together at the right moment: the tide, the weather, and my health. And after one hell of a hike, it finally did.

These little characters take over the internet this time of year, but I’m all for it. 🐧✨

People always ask me: “Why do you go back and photograph the same birds every year!?”

Well for one, have you seen how cute they are in real life?! 🥹

Secondly, I just can’t get enough of that feeling when you step onto the island. It’s pure magic, and I don’t think a single image will ever fully capture it. That’s exactly why I keep going back.

Swipe through to see them in action! Which shot is your favourite? 📸👇

A rare moment with a Curlew

Standing among the iconic spring bluebells on Skomer Island, we were lucky enough to spot this beautiful Curlew. Seeing these incredible wading birds is becoming a heartbreakingly rare privilege these days. To capture one in a setting as magical as this felt like pure luck and a reminder of why we need to protect these incredible birds.

A warm afternoon on Skomer, bluebells glowing in every direction, and a Short-eared Owl drifting silently across the island hunting low over the flowers.

The conditions weren’t easy for myself and .laidler , with the heat haze making tracking and sharpness a real challenge at times, but every now and then the air settled just enough for a few frames to come together.

This sequence follows the hunt from start to finish.
Keep scrolling to the end to see the moment it finally locked onto its prey and made the catch. 🦉

Spring has always been my favourite season. After months of bleak mornings and bare landscapes, there’s something about the fresh smell in the air, the return of birdsong, and the sudden wash of colour that feels impossible to replace.

Bluebell season especially always stops me in my tracks. Yet somehow, year after year, life seems to get in the way and I never spend as much time in it as I want to. Maybe that’s why I appreciate it even more when I do finally slow down and take it in.

No matter how many seasons come and go, spring will always feel like home to me. 🌿💜

I’ve been fairly quiet this spring but I’ve become more selective with my work. These are some of the composition/ideas I’ve been working on lately.

Trying not to get overwhelmed with the vast amount of images on social media and actually get into a new chapter of photography for myself. Very much looking forward to the next few months.
